Looking for a tire recommendation.

My truck will spend 80% of it's days on a highway, but I don't want to give up performance on the weekends I head off the road. Any thoughts? I'm considering the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A, but I've been told they'll be brutal on the road.

Thx --

That isn't a bad tire for the highway with occasional off road. They suck in mud. The don't really do well at anything but they sort of do everything marginally. And they do wear pretty well. That is what I will go with next time.

I've heard very good things about Bridgeston Deuler Revo's. Tire rack rates them an 8 or higher in every catagory. They only rate on-road stuff though. But from what others tell me about them they are great in mud and offer traction compareable to the T/A's in other stuff.

They will be my next tire, in 33' size plz!

I love mine.
they are bad in gooey mud but otherwise great and will last 40+k if you care for them at all. I a at 30k and still have plenty of wear to go.

Just ordered a set of Michelin Cross-Terrains, their (relatively) new SUV tire. It's long-wear rated, and siped deep for the NC mud and snows. The set on my wife's RX300 is almost as quiet as the OEM Michelins, and grips like glue.

The Dueler Revos have much better on-road manners than the BFG AT. I have had both. They are also pretty good in the rain and snow. Just make sure you get the REVO as the plain duelers aren't so great.

I've run BFG A/T's on several trucks and never been anything but happy w/ them - smooth and quite on the road, enough lug for most stuff a light wheeler will see. You might also look into the Michelin LTX A/T - I got over 100k out of them on my '95 Tacoma (and they still weren't bald). Don't get a lot of praise here because they only go up to 265/75R16 - I had 32-11.5R15 on the PU.

My .02 -

Has anyone had any experience with Yokohama Geolandar A/T Plus II's?
Thanks,
Chuck

I had a set on my old 4runner and I liked them a lot.
Great on road behavior and pretty decent in mud and snow, the only downside was they wore out pretty quickly <30k.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I have really loved my Uniroyal AWTs on my 80.

When I bought it there were some really bad 285s on there that were VERY oddly worn. I drove to BJ's and threw some 265s on of this tire.

Super wear on road, moderate offroad traction, not bad in mud...I have been really surprised.

Best part is the price, they were really really inexpensive. I would recommend them for dedicated road warrior duty and light to moderate wheeling...nothing more.
