Here’s one for you all. When I leave the house in the morning it is 19F outside, when I drive home it is 48F. My tire pressures are never right.

"Right" is the range your PSI cycles through based on cold inflation pressures. Changes throughout the day are impossible to avoid.

So you want to set your MINIMUM pressure, and that can only be set when tires are their coldest. Then, as temperatures fluctuate and the air expands/contracts, you can know with certainty that your tires will not fall below the cold, condensed-air minimum. If you can only inflate when hot, add a few pounds knowing it will decrease when cool again.

A wheeling example of cold vs. hot issues-
-It's pretty common to air down on hot trails days, and then as the day cools...or especially if you climb up and through snow...suddenly you are WAY flatter than you intended because you cool the air in the tires. But anyway--set it when "cold" and then no worries.

Great resource! Gaijin, can you provide a recommendation for 2015 LX with 275 55 20 Goodyear Wrangler All-terrain Adventure. These are p metric 113T. Tire shop put them at 40 psi. TIA.

Glad you find it helpful!

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the P275/55R20 113T SL Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure With Kevlar Product Code 758065571 on your 2015 LX570 is 32psi Front/Rear.

Knock down some of the excess pressure the tire shop put in those tires and enjoy the ride even more. Don't forget to initialize your TPMS.

Just put LT275/70/r18 KO2's on my '08 200. All stock right now. I'm thinking it's 42PSI F & R. Sound right?

Muchas Gracias!

Cold tire pressure for BFG KO2s, 275/65/18?

Thanks,
-Chris

I am forced to make assumptions - and I don't like doing that.

I assume you mean BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 LT275/65R18/E 123/120R tires on a 200 series Land Cruiser. If so, then the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure is 45psi F/R.

Thanks in advance,

Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressures are indicated in Red Bold above.

As far as pros/cons of P-Metric vs. LT-Metric, you will find a lot of opinions in other threads; but in general, some points to bear in mind whenever considering an alternate tire size/construction:

Any tire that is larger/heavier than the stock tire will result in:

- Slower acceleration
- Longer braking distances
- Lower gas mileage

LT-Metric tires usually have stronger (i.e. more puncture resistant) construction in both tread and sidewall.

Depending on size and construction you may also experience increased noise and interference (rubbing) with various body and/or suspension components.

Whether these trade-offs are acceptable or not is entirely up to you.

Thank you, but I'm a bit confused.

Wouldn't 116V XL Pirelli have a higher load index than the 115H so less air pressure necessary for for my LX's load? Or is it OEM size is OEM 33 pressure but the increase sidewall of the 115H lowers the pressure needed for the same load?

How does the does the XL affect the 116V rating? The XL would have a higher rating than non XL? If so how much limit is added/subtracted?

I'm babbling, but I almost had it until I looked at top and bottom simliar tire compares.
