i was wondering if anyone mounted their spare tire inside the cab? I was planning on building a bracket where the drivers flip down rear seat is located (tire would mount vertically). Tire size would be a 285 75 16 but in the next year would like to move to the 315.

Only reason why i didn't opt for the swing out rear (just bought from 4x4 labs, went up to the shop and picked one up and those guys up there are a great group to talk too!) is that my kids love to use the back door to get out.

Any pictures or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you come up with one I'd be interested. My 2001 Excursion has an inside the cab spare tire carrier and I love it.

Can't really find any "universal" tire mount that will work as the ao can't be found to purchase.

So I think fabbing one up should be pretty simple. Don't know if I am going to go with the slee method (up to the top of the handle or the ao which just mounts to the body/frame U mounted with a lower wood mount for te tire to rest on.

Im going to make it out of 1.5 or 2 (3/16 thickness) inch square tube with 3/16 mounting plates. Might just go with a universals clamp on tire holder that any trailer company sells for spare tires mounting on boats or trailers so that if I upgrade to a 35 it will just be a matter of sliding the mount up.

I'll keep you guys posted with progress hopefully when I do it in the next month.

If there are any other ideas on current suppliers that may carry them for the 100 please Still keep the ideas coming.

I can make a prototype and see how easy they are to build. Which I think wouldn't be that bad. But if they're are to many people interested I wouldn't have the time to make them and would send it to a local/vendor to handle the bigger numbers. I'll keep you guys posted.

I was trying to find if anyone had a pole mounted a la 80 series in their 100s last week when I was looking to mount my 20# co2 tank back there somewhere. I couldn't find anyone that had done it but still think it wouldn't be too hard to go that route and you could have multiple things mounted to it.

How does the rubber smell baking in the sun?
Having a 2001 Excursion that has a similar (but stronger looking) inside the cab mount, the tire only smells when brand new, after a month or so it's fine :)

This style set up works great for 80 series
