Timing cover gasket....What am I doing wrong?

I would just RTV the stiffener in place when I was installing the cover, that way it is most doing its job. I would just use the stock cork gasket with RTV or FIPG where indicated in the FSM. Though, Toyota is using FIPG for many of these surfaces now so you might be fine just using a FIPG. I have no experience with Aviation formagasket, but it is probably the same stuff as FIPG

It's been a while since I've done a cover, so I don't remember what I did/did not remove .... But I did it twice before a Cruiser Whisperer told me that 'trick'. No mas leaky. Also used the Toyota FIPG and let it cure overnight before filling and firing.
filling what? Do you have to drain the oil pan for this? Also, I think I might have an issue with the nozzle, how loose should be?

Unfortunately, one of the possibilities that is overlooked too often is that the timing cover PLATE gasket may be leaking. Changing the cover gasket will not stop that leak...ever. Only pulling the camshaft will.:(
How can one diagnose if the plate is leaking? Is this caused by the oil nozzle being screwed in too far?

Thanks
Dan
