Timing belt broke on shut down - 1999 100 series

Not sure how much you wanna spend. But I did tonsss of research and the best place I found was AAA Engine super helpful walked me threw everything. Plus a 2-year warranty
 
I thought I force was just marketing a brand for the v8s it was no really difference it was just a badge that was eventually added.

My gut says that the mechanic re-installed the timing components incorrectly and it's causing a 0-compression scenario.

There have been a few cases in the 100-series forum of TBs breaking and there not being any damage or interference. Motor was scoped, new TB components were installed and engine ran happily afterwards. Hopefully this is the outcome for this after a closer inspection or another set of eyes.

From what I remember from the 100 series forms there are small differences but nothing that would be a hurdle to swap over. The biggest difference is the japan made 4.7s are said to have thicker or stronger forged rods and the US made Iforce ones don't.

Its a pretty common yota thing on the UZ motor. Toyota seemed to change rod strength up and down the line.
The early 1uz rods can take 700 rwhp but they changed them in 95 for some reason to a much weaker rod.
 
I'm confused and with @GLTHFJ60 on this one. How was the engine deemed toast? Did the mechanic pull it apart? What did he find?
If he pulled it apart and its "toast" why is he now doing a compression check?
Has he done a check yet? What were the numbers?
 
Just read your other thread... 0 on all cylinders?? Something seems off there.

But still what did the mechanic find besides that.
 
Finding out or flat bed to dealer for compression test.

Best thing to do is replace the belt and do a compression check on all cylinders. This would determine if the motor is toast or not. You might be ok if it happened on shutdown.
 
He said he did that and said zero on all. Doesn’t seem correct. I asked for compression test and results for each cylinder.
 
Even if there was valve to piston contact when the belt was broken and the engine was being cranked, it's not possible that every single cylinder was damaged. I believe there should be (at least) two cylinders where the valves are fully closed at any point in time.

This is to mean that it shouldn't be possible that all cylinders have zero compression, unless the timing was messed up when the timing set was put back together.

Agreed. Or the compression was never actually checked...

Again, hoping that's the case so that this motor can be fixed up and put back into service with new timing components.
 
How do you check compression on a vehicle without a timing belt? Aren't the valves needed to do that effectively?

steps i know of.
Removed old timing belt.
Installed new timing components
Came back and said no timing on any cylinders
Needs new engine
I pushed back and said i need a compression test with results
Once i hear something i will post up
If still 0 on all, going on flatbed to toyota
 
Update
I received a video with the truck running.
When the belt broke, it destroyed the crank position sensor. A new sensor was installed a few days ago and that is when there was zero compression on all cylinders. The new sensor from Toyota was actually bad. A new crank position sensor was put in today and it fired up and sounds ok on the video. Compression on bank 1 was 170-170-170-150 and on bank two 170-170-170-150.

I am hoping everything is ok.

Persistence and ih8mud family paid off.
