New to the forum here, and have a question. I have a 76 FJ40 with a chevy 327 engine. It has the advance adapters bell housing. I am replacing the clutch and need to know if the original Toyota style (Koyo rct52s) bearing will work with the Perfection Clutch Kit I purchased. The T/O bearing that came in the kit is a different style. Want to make sure I don't put it together and have problems with the bearing not mating to the new pressure plate correctly?

Any Help?

Kelly

Will the Toyota style bearing work? That way I am hoping I can stay with stock fork.

The Toyota bearing will work, and should be used so that you can stay with the stock Toyota shift fork, BUT you've got bigger problems: you've got a high cone pressure plate, and you've got to use a low cone pressure plate. Next problem: I'll bet the pressure plate you've got takes about .500" travel to disengage, and the Toyota hydraulics only produces about .420" of travel at the throw out bearing- - -might I suggest one of my Chevota clutches instead????

where would we get the chevota clutches? I am in the same spot needing a new flywheel and pressure plate. I have a v8 conversion, with a 3speed tranny using a chevy bellhousing. I went to the part store and it looks like it is a GM fly wheel and pressure plate. the PO did all the work and im thinking he had the wrong throwout bearing on it and wheel. The teeth where ground down badly. Thanks in advance.

1. You need a 168 tooth flywheel for 11" pressure plate.
2. With the Chevy bellhousing you use the Chevy shift fork, Chevy shift fork pivot ball, and a Chevy "short" throw-out bearing.
3. You get the Chevota pressure plate and disc from me, $262.00 plus the ride. Mine takes about .375" of travel to disengage (huge improvement).

Ok Downey, I'm interested, I have to return the one I purchased from Summit, then I can make some arrangements. Ready to get this thing back on the road. Do I PM you?
