Need some clarification here. I posted a description of a Land Cruiser, e.g. miles, price, etc. to see if it looked like a decent deal. The truck isn't mine. The thread was deleted - reason "classifieds please". I thought we discussed prices here all the time... no?

We did...the entire "Buying Advice..." sticky thread is now gone. Maybe TM was up late loaded up on caffeine and booze and errantly deleted it :D

edit: er...its been moved to the new and improved Classified section...

Maybe I don't like it yet...

There are several "what is it worth" posts weekly. People complained about them cluttering up the section as individual posts. So the solution to that was the sticky thread. Then people complained about the sticky thread and that it wasn't organized.

So, I asked Woody about a buying/selling subsection within the 100 section. He declined and pointed out that the vehicle classifieds have already been broken out to model specific sections, and if people are asking about prices, they can post there. There's a generic thread there to ask pricing questions. You can do plenty of research there also by looking at what people are posting for sale and that should give you a great idea if what you're buying or selling is in the ballpark.

Tech is tech, classifieds are classifieds. Hope that answers your question.

The problem with the classifieds is that it gets 10% of the traffic. Even less of those people actually frequenting the classifieds are there to engage in advice giving. I am a newbie, so this is just my $0.02

Thread deletion coming in 5...4...3...

I'll second the request to bring it back to the 100 section. The worst thing that can happen to any forum is to scatter information. Nobody has time to do an Easter Egg hunt and they'll just get frustrated and post in Tech. I have a star and 2k+ posts and I too would have come looking here. Had no idea that y'all had re-arranged the furniture.

Two things you can be guaranteed on ih8mud...ads down your throat and moderation.

Buying a star means zero ads. Moderation is still in full force though.

To their credit, moderating a forum is actually pretty difficult and extremely time consuming. I've been scolded for being out of line before, but I probably deserved it. We should appreciate what our Mods do. This place would be 's without them.

Yes, Cory does a great job. Got no complaints over the Mod part of the gig. It's just hard to be spanked when you didn't know or couldn't find the right place. It was more obvious before.

I for one really like how the classifieds was recently broken out into model. Makes it a ton easier to look for what you want. I agree that many people don't stray far from the 100s section, which will likely increase the number of individual posts regarding value. The old thread was convoluted by design but easier to find.

As for the star, yes it is absolutely worth the cost both for improved functionality and as a thank you to woody for making this place available to us. Think of it as a donation for all of the great information out there. Running servers and backups ain't cheap and advertisements are necessary to do that. There is no logical argument from someone who complains about the adds and doesn't have a star. In my experience mud doesn't have more or less adds than any other forum. A lot of the adds can be controlled in the User CP section.

Cory does a great job balancing the 100s section, if anything it could be moderated a little harder. Thanks for keeping things inline. If you don't like the moderation level maybe you should head over to that pirate site.

Yep this is sweet... I h8'd how scattered the classifieds were previously. Organizing subsections in the parts area would be awesome too.:grinpimp::idea::idea::grinpimp:

How about a sticky thread w/ a link to the Hundy section of the classifieds?

Problem solved! (the hundy sub forum in the classifieds is pretty nice)

These are both great ideas.

Maybe this thread needs to be moved to the classified's too!

Agreed - splitting the parts to vehicle specific would be nice.

Can't say enough good things about ih8mud, it's saved me a ton of time and money. Thank you.
