Sure... Radflo, Bilstein, Swayaway. You are correct as far as customer service. It makes a huge difference. What is even more important is their shock tuners. Many of the shock companies will tune other brands too. The whole point to a top quality shock is the ability to tune it for a specific vehicle.
For example, on my buggy I ran some coilovers that were built and valved specifically for my buggy. It rode pretty good. Much better than anything I had ever driven. Then we went out for a few tuning sessions. Changed some valving, pistons, and dual rate stop points. It was night and day better. I could hardly believe it was the same rig. I went from being scared of the whoops and just rolling through at a snails pace to hammering down and floating across the top like it should be.
By no means am I a shock tuner and my knowledge is still pretty limited but I know where to get help. I run shocks made by ADS which is fairly local to me. Brian, their builder/tuner, has helped me out greatly. I also live in Phoenix where many desert racing teams reside. Basically, out here there are alot of people who can help.
I hope this info is helping and not making me sound like a ass. I am just trying to widen peoples scope on what can be done and options out there. Bummer is custom shocks and tuning cost alot more than over the shelf stuff, but it really does make a difference.
Back to the topic on LV ride quality.......I think custom leaf springs, with proper bumpstops, custom valved shocks and maybe some sway bars would be the ticket to a sweet riding LV without having to reinvent the wheel.
