I'm ready to purchase a rack and I like the look of the Gobi stealth. Any feedback on added wind noise or decreased MPG? Any other observations? Overall, are you happy with the rack?

Very happy. Negligible impact on MPG - dwarfed by other factors. I don't even notice the noise. I'm sure there is some but, again, negligible to me. Far less than when I had a Yakima rack and aero crossbars. And I love the floor on it, the ladder and the removeable cross bars and sun roof section.

FWIW, I like my Gobi after over two years of use now.

If an increase in wind noise is generated, I don't notice if from the cab. And I have to suspect any increase in wind noise from the rack itself would be similar to other aftermarket roof rack options.

I can't comment or isolate any impact to MPG, however, as I have a lift, AT tires, armor, etc. that have all taken their toll here. (However, if I removed my Gobi now, I doubt I'd gain much, if anything, in the way of MPG.)

I'd recommend you draw up a plan for your intended use, however, as it relates to accessories you intend to place on it. Specifically, if going with fixed crossbars (as I did) you'll want to ensure the spacing accommodates your gear. I didn't do this, and as a result, I had to compromise how I mount my TRED1100 due to their length and interference with those fixed crossbars. Either order from Gobi directly and have them alter their spacing if you go with fixed bars, or as Dan mentioned above, removable crossbars would be a great way to go. (Gobi has done customizations for other customers so it's at least worth a phone call)

My typical applications include a rotating mix of the following (not all at once):
- rotopax fuel, water, & storage
- hilift jack
- TRED1100s
- shovel
- Yakima skybox
- BOB stroller
- bicycles
- 12'x12' portable canopy & folding camping chairs
- random Home Depot lumber, PVC pipes, etc...
- elevated platform from which to stand, e.g. DLSR tripod, ad hoc ladder to reach 'X',
- etc...

Various mounting options exist from purpose-built 3rd party options to custom 'whatever you can imagine' using bolts, fender washers, brackets, etc... Other rack brands like Frontrunner, Gamiviti, and Prinsu may offer better accessory mounts due to their pseudo-proprietary components. These tend to be a little more thought out, tightly integrated, and overall better look & feel due to their exact match of form & function. Gobi has their accessories, too, but when you lay out your plan and intended use, you'll want to factor in all the accessories and purposes your rack will serve.

Also, another consideration - many of my roof-mounted accessories will likely go to my rear bumper when I do that upgrade. That will likely mean some of my current accessory mounts will be craigslist items in the future.

Thank you Kevin. I was browsing online and they have some pretty terrible reviews (lead times, response time, etc.). Did you all have any service issues with them? I just got back from swinging by their shop to ask some questions and they weren't very helpful. There was a younger person working there and she seemed a little put off with my questions. But, if I'm going to spend $1500+ on a product I can't physically see, I want to know exactly what I'm getting. She also said there was a 16 week lead time. That's crazy.

Yeah, lead time is terrible. I had to wait 8 weeks, but I was lucky (?). And, their SCM/CRM apps/processes are not like Amazon - that's for sure. I called 7 weeks in to see if the 8 week ETA was still on track, and their response was not inspiring. Called at 8 weeks, still wasn't ready. Called a few days later, and it was close enough to 'done' that they scheduled me a few days out for the install. Probably 9 weeks and change from order to install.

I hung out in their lobby while they did the install for free (instead of charging me freight to be delivered as I was local) but otherwise, I haven't had much interaction re: customer service to say whether positive/negative. Just a transaction for me. You probably just spoke to (pardon the derogatory label) a phone receptionist, but maybe an install tech or general manager would be a better person to speak to in their small shop? Not trying to defend/endorse in anyway.

Shoot me a PM if you want to see my Gobi in person, least I can do.

I haven't noticed any additional wind noises or cross winds affecting stability at speed. Only on the very first drive after installing it did I "feel" the additional weight on the roof.
Great product and worth the 16 week wait. Ladder is very useful.

I loved the one I had on my 200..... only went with the Prinsu due to the lower clearance given my lift and larger tires...

The wait is a pain. But I figured I would live with it for a lot longer than the 2 months it took for them to build mine. And to be honest, I didn't really need it during that period.
