Okay this took a lot of time. There's a lot to consider: starter wiring, starter solenoid wiring, grounding, alt etc.
Here's the list of what I did. I might revisit if I leave something out.
- Grounding:
Here's a screenshot of the manual on the grounding needed for the R2.8. Get your multimeter out and test, test, test.
1. Ground the ECM to the body or frame. (if you have your ECM isolated for vibration as it calls for, you will need to ground it.)
2. Ground the start battery to the frame.
3. Ground the frame to the engine.
4. Ran a second ground from the stock grounding from the 2F to the engine. The one on the top of the engine in the center.
5. Ground your house battery to the frame (if you have a dual setup)
examples of my wiring.
- Battery location.
I changed the start battery from the passenger side to the driver side of the rig.
This was due in large part too the BlueSea controller needed to move because the airbox now took its place.
With that said you have to run a long wire for the following: Start solenoid wire, alternator to battery wiring.
- Alternator wire
Here's the extended wire from the fusible link over to the driver side of the rig.
I kept the stock wire from the harness from the alternator to the battery and ran a new wire from the alternator to the battery thus doubling up the sire over to the battery. (I've had no issues with this.)
(Not pictured)
- Starter Solenoid wire
I spliced in a long wire from the stock harness over to the driver side of the engine as that's were the starter is.
- Oil pressure gauge
Since this wire is on the passenger side I extended the wire over to the driver side as that's were the port for the gauge is.
- Engine coolant temp
Extend the wiring to the middle of the engine and up to the front were the port is.
- Dual Battery
BlueSea controller, switch and fuses. needed to increase the length on one wire for this. Will have another pic with were I placed it.
Okay, Keep your dick in a vise.
PIXIES!!
