what are the pros and cons of this setup?
i saw a heep running this in the muddy hills a couple months back.
are there things to be aware of when doing something like this?

I considered doing it....talked myself out of it. IMO, it's a bit uncontrolled and can create some sidehill/downhill issues. Better than folding shackles tho.

You'll kick butt on the ramp with it, but on trail use will vary...some people love them, some install and remove immediately, some pin the buggy for the option. Terrain dependant.

i figured pinning would be a must for the option.
why would this be better than folding the shackles?
could this idea be used front and rear?
the heep i saw was only sprung this way in the rear.

folding shackle provides no downward resistance until extended...this provides some. More predictable, IMO

if you run a shackle reversal in front, you'll need a REALLY long travel driveshaft, since your axle can walk forward even more.

A rear wrap bar is required too, some for wrap, but also to keep the rear axle from walking forward too far as it droops.
