New to these so looking for opinions on if this is beyond a tolerable level of rust.
Thanks.

Notice everybody posting is either from the south or western part of the US so of course for them this is crazy rust.
Most northern trucks especially the NE coast and midwest are gonna look like that... and they still run for many years and hundreds of thousands of miles no problem. Just a pain in the ass to work on that's all.

COMPLETE noob question...but can anyone tell me what that part is of the left hand side of the picture, with the metal shield and holes in it? Similarly, what's the tank thing on the right? Is that the gas tank shield or muffler??View attachment 1314781 2004 LEXUS LX 470 - 4WD - Excellent Condition

Rust is manageable. If the price reflects the work involved, why not. If you have access to a lift, a wire brush, rust converter, rust preventer, sealer, undercoat, and a s*** ton of time and patience then go for it. Just make sure that rust is not deep. Also, be prepared for more than just the rust to give you issues. All of the rubber components will likely need attention as well with that kind of corrosion. I would much rather find a rust free car from Cali and go get it (or like LEX said and have it shipped) but I also wouldn't shy from the rust work if the price was right!!!!
