land of enchantment, at least for now
I spent much of my day today replacing a torn CV boot on the Sube. BTW, so much for OEM quality, as that boot didn't last one year. Another OEM boot was $64 plus clamps, so this time I opted for aftermarket--Neapco for $7.79 with grease and clamps. Figure it will last at least a year. But that's not why I'm posting.

I was thinking of you Jon, because I went inside for lunch, for more than an hour. I live along a high-traffic road in town. I left my garage door open, my hand tools within 10 feet of the sidewalk, keys in the car with the radio on (not that it could go anywhere), garage door opener out, etc. Ashleigh came home sometime during that hour and parked the 80 next to the Sube. When I went back out, something was amiss. Instead of finding my stuff missing, someone left me a Craftsman 6" vice, sitting beside my tools on the ground. :hhmm:

Later I was to find which neighbor it was, but regardless it was totally unexpected. :D So my few hours of annoyance with the Sube was topped with that. Then followed by the first 20 minutes I've found to work on the 80 since I bought it 2 weeks ago. I bought 3 Toyota hazard switches for $5 at CapScrap, installed one today for a center diff lock switch, and hooray, I now have 3 fully functional locking differentials. A nice way to cap the day after working on the sube.

Hope the meeting was fun. I hoped to come, but the sube repair and dinner plans got in the way.

That was a nice surprise!

so was the vise a gift, or did they finally get it back to you?

Maybe I should leave my garage door open tonight and see what happens.

Don't push your luck!
