thats a nice score....if i have the money i will buy it,not sure the price but with a paki soft top will look killer , fender mirror its nice to have and i will not change those rims, looks that have a PTO winch..

i am surprised that thats still for sale...i would say its a yay...but cant recall the price.

very interesting top on it. i have more pics of it someplace.

i thought it was a factory bow set-up with new canvas and bestop doors...i'll see if i can find more pics

so what are you waiting for. though i think if it is a '82-83 it should be a bj42. i love mine, not nearly as pretty as that one. doesn't like super cold (below -20C.)

If I get it those mirrors would be comming off , amber lights gone , put 2 inch lift and the tallest skinnest set of super swampers I could fit on it would go on it. I think it would look great . what about the 4 speed though ? Should I keep looking for a 5 speed ??

i found my pics...but...better yet i found the website i got them from:
Luxury Imports - Calgary, Alberta

this rig may have once been a fst with the oem folding bows...but...it was replaced/hacked together and a new canvas made....this is just from a few pics that i saw.

still a nice looking top and great looking truck IMO

Does Luxury have possesion of it the last time I saw it this was still up for auction and had not been sold, the auction price on this would be aprox 600,000yen if I recall it did not sell at 500,000yen which puts this in the 8k plus range landed and certified not including the middle man.
It is a nice BJ and in good condition.

If you buy it I will take the mirrors off you...in case you aren't familiar with the JDMS the fenders have a recess cut in the fender for the mirror foot and 4 holes for mounting them.

FWIW: Those fender mirrors look like they were set up for pulling a long/wide trailer....if it was seriously over 2000 lbs, there may be a problem with the rear frame...check it out.

All the import rigs I look at have those mirrors . Must be standard equip. over there . I'll get the holes filled and re painted . I'd have no problem paying 15K (CDN) or more for one . I got the bug again and theres no stopping me now .lol .

I've got an 82 BJ 42 that came from Australia. A few comments/thoughts on this one based on the pics on the JohnnyC referenced:

1) Anyone know if those are factory rear fender flares?

2) What's the "FD" knob on the dash for? I thought that was an early control for front drive (4WD).

3) Wheels are recently painted. Poorly. Underside has some fresh black too. Rig looks solid, but someone is trying to make it look newer than it is.

4) Factory air?

5) What's the extra level for on the left side of the transmission hump?

6) Drum brakes.

7) No tachometer.

8) The original decals are in nice condition. I like the Diesel label inside the fuel door.

I'm think the 5 speed was an option in 82 and early 83 and eventually became standard equipment sometime in 83.

That's a really solid rig. I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for 10K or more. Since a dealer is involved, he'll proably be asking much more.

Yes I was wondering what the extra lever was for also ??? I wonder if its org. paint ??? Being a 83 I thought it would atleast have front dics. Yes it looks like the black spray paint fairy was around. I think I better do some more homework on these rigs before I pull the trigger.

Yes those are factory flares
FD is front drive or the vacuum transfer switch
Extra lever is for the PTO
Tachs are not standard option on JDM 42 nor Cdn 42s
JDM 42 came both 4 and 5 spd
Disc front /drum rear

Are all the JDM ones 24V , any info on the pros or cons of this system. Finding parts in north america like starters , lights etc....... adding axu. lighting , I have no experiance with 24V .

Canadian BJs are 24V also except the headlights no problem for parts

i have a CDN spec 82 BJ42 with H42 4 speed from factory. its a 24Volt truck as well. (cept for headlights and possibly a few others that i havent checked yet)

I personally Don't value that one from Japan for 8k+ like they are wanting...
