Things TO-DO before GSMTR 2015

For those that have gone from 33" to 35", what have been your impression for overall performance. My 80 is not a crawler but I am not afraid to use my truck offroad. However I still use it quite a bit on road to haul dirt bikes and travel to offroad destinations. It is not my daily driver.
Go 315's and call it a day. :)

I like my truck for its road manners in addition to its offroad ability. I hate to invest that much money in tires and regret loosing road performance for marginal gain off road. Am I looking at it wrong?

I know you have an 80 and I have a 4Runner, but I've recently stepped up to 315s from 305s and have no complaints about road manners. Tire selection in a 315 is limited compared to say a 285 but still some great dual purpose choices out there jmtc.

One last hurdle is were to put the spare 315. My inside space is high value since I usually carry 2 kids and a dog. I have long term plans to get a rear bumper and swing out but I have no timeline on that since I haven't been able to budget it yet.

I know a few guys that run a 255 spare because it's considerably narrower but roughly the same height. Just an idea.

Assuming all holds together at Caryville (post front disc brake conversion) and i dont add anything to the list, should just be a day of PM stuff and pulling the hardtop to get ready for GSMTR 15.

100 days to get our junk fixed!!

Re-install interior.
New ring gear in front diff (which may mean full re-gear and possibly rear locker)
Hopefully it'll be ready by GSMTR15.

What happened to the diff? More cove carnage? What locker you looking at?

I'm not sure if it was the cove or some time before. I was changing all the fluids and came to the front diff. Pulled the drain plug and a tooth was stuck to the magnet.

Probably going with the Yukon Zip Locker.

My only concern is that it appears the SST Maxx is measuring out to 32" in that size. Not sure thats a big deal, but not sure I want to spend that much money and be a bit short. Maybe I am being silly.

However in you opinion, where does the SST maxx not measure up to the KM2, if any?
Well off-road, I would say the clean out ability of the KM2 is better because of the tread design, we are talking a MT style vs an all-terrain. However the MAXX is pretty damn good. The other I would say is sidewall durability, I had some gashes in the KM2's you could hide a small baby in and they still held air. I'd say the same gash in the MAXX and it would be trashed.

I will measure my MAXX's to give you a true dimension mounted to work with, I never measured my KM2's...

And the measurement is........ 31.5".

Not sure what the KM2's are at, I'd like to know if you have time...

Install clutch master
Adjust valves
Button up rear brakes
Thermostat
Clean out interior
Inspect all lights

Drive, drive, drive it to see what else needs to be done.

Doubt that I will be able to start/finish front half of frame and suspension, knuckle rebuild, etc by then. So I prob won't even try. Need plenty of shakedown runs on the road to gain some confidence in her. At this point I just want to be able to drive the 40 to GSMTR. Just planning to ride shotgun and film. Seems to be my typical GSMTR agenda anyway. But I'm cool with it.

I'll have a 5x8 trailer of wood available if someone wants to pull it up.

The more the merrier!! If everyone could bring a few pieces it would be great. I'll bring my saw again. Last year we found a pretty good sized tree down right off the trail, close to camp. Jordan (80offroad) is probably going to pull my M416 again with some wood.

I hope I can make it this year.

My (wish) list: (will be lucky to get any of these accomplished!)

-"L" shocks
-De-flare rig
-swing out spare carrier for my bumper
-marlin T-case gears
- finish camper trailer

Can I get some of this stuff on craigslist? Lol
