Hell my tranny went out at 263k going up the blue Ridge parkway in NC outside of asheville. But since replacing I'm at 308xxx and it runs and shifts great.....but I have yet to get to my timing belt last done at 190k...

Be careful with that timing belt, they do stretch. They also tear/separate.

The crazy thing to me about these trucks isn't just that the drivetrain is so solid, but everything else still works too. I've seen other brands with a couple hundred thousand miles and they still drive, but the AC, switches, windows, electrical system, etc all starts failing.

I hear ya though. My wife thought I was Nuts for wanting to buy Benc's 100.

Everything I read is that these LX's and LC's are very well built trucks.
I am a long term owner of Isuzu Troopers. They are soldly built except that
the Engine typically burns 1qt oil every 1,000 miles and the 4L30E transmission
is known as a prime killer. Everything else on these Isuzu's is rock solid and Troopers
are great off road vehicles. I don't think I will have those type problems with my LX.
Seems the price is reflective too as the LX/LC commands a x4 to x5 price differential.
I like Isuzu's but I think my LX has a much much more reliable and problem free Engine
and Transmission.

I have a 1998 LX with 160k miles (not much) that still has all the original main components and working AHC system. My wife drives it mostly and I drive an old 4runner and ford truck. Every time I get back in the LX I'm reminded of how substantial a vehicle it is. Engine is smooth, shifts smooth, the interior components feel nice and work properly, leather still a 9/10 after 18 years of use, carpet is thick and cleans up well, glass headlamps look great, and everything on it is beef.

Sure, I've spent money fixing door locks, maintenance, and the rare failed part. But it's a cheap vehicle to own for a 18 year old 6k lb AWD piece of machinery. My 4runner has more than double the miles as my LX and is no where near as nice (although it runs pretty good too).... So I have high hopes of keeping my LX for a very long time.

When I talk to people that don't know much about these trucks and how I'm not crazy for trading a 2 yr old Subaru for a 13 year old LC, I tell them the LC is the only vehicle I have seen were people are selling with 300K miles and still usable as a daily driver. This one blows my mind.
So true! And a nearly 6,000 lb. fulltime 4WD, at that!

Except for those who installed part-time 2WD w/locking hubs;)

Wow ... locking hubs allowing for 2wd and then 4wd when you need it.
Tell us more how you did it - I had an Isuzu Trooper with locking hubs, I liked.
Bet you get better fuel economy too.

I'm looking at some Fuel wheels also, pretty nice stuff!!

The auction on this truck went higher than I wanted to pay. Hope the new buyer fixes it and puts another 2-300k miles on it.

@cwmoser guess I should've clarified but that's not my truck, just a buddy I know who works at my local shop that specializes in LC/LX's. You can just barely see my corner lense on the left of the first photo. I think it's been pretty well covered that the part time kit doesn't increase fuel economy by very much. But I imagine it is very nice to have and it does allow you to do some pretty sick burn outs!:) Part-time 4WD kit found here:

I was willing to buy it at $2500 if it were closer

So is this your 100 that sank? Post some pic's and what you replaced
No refer to my post 4 posts down from those photos. I just happened to park next to it at my local shop and that guy works there and specializes in everything LC/LX. If you look at the first photo my trucks corner lense is just barely poking out on the left side of the photo. Wish it was my truck though! Regardless, not much had to be replaced. Much to the mechanics amazement and my own the engine was not hydrolocked so it started right up after a complete disassembly, cleaning, re-oiling, and reassembly. The only things it ruined were the factory amp under the pass. seat (which I was planning on doing a complete stereo overhaul anyway-I've thrown an Alpine amp in its place), and it also fried the ECU.
