These trucks are the truth

Man, I've got another 400,000 to go on mine ;) Did anyone see the guy who went 1 million miles in his Tundra with the 4.7 engine? Toyota gave him a new Tundra for it. I have a friend that owns a large used car dealership here in my town and a couple years ago he had a 2000 Land Cruiser that someone traded in with 310,000 on it. I drove it and it drove fine, he said he would take $4000 for it. I took the day to think about it and decided not to take it. A few weeks later he said he took it to auction and it brought $6500 so he was glad I passed.

Here's the link for the new listing

When I talk to people that don't know much about these trucks and how I'm not crazy for trading a 2 yr old Subaru for a 13 year old LC, I tell them the LC is the only vehicle I have seen were people are selling with 300K miles and still usable as a daily driver. This one blows my mind.

My dad thought I was crazy for getting an "old suv" instead of a new truck! Pretty much everyone that I talked to before buying it didn't get it. My dad changed his mind about it the first time he rode in it and there were no rattles.

No refer to my post 4 posts down from those photos. I just happened to park next to it at my local shop and that guy works there and specializes in everything LC/LX. If you look at the first photo my trucks corner lense is just barely poking out on the left side of the photo. Wish it was my truck though! Regardless, not much had to be replaced. Much to the mechanics amazement and my own the engine was not hydrolocked so it started right up after a complete disassembly, cleaning, re-oiling, and reassembly. The only things it ruined were the factory amp under the pass. seat (which I was planning on doing a complete stereo overhaul anyway-I've thrown an Alpine amp in its place), and it also fried the ECU.

where is this said shop?

Just realized you are a fellow Arkansan! The shop is 4x4 Mud Connection at 6104 Young Rd, run by a nice guy named Charley. Taylor is the one with the part-time 4WD LC. Pull in their parking lot and all they got outside are LC's & LX's (maybe a heep here or there). I would recommend their shop for anyone in AR. If you are trying to avoid the dealership but find that mechanic who actually knows a thing or two about these trucks, take it to them. Bring your checkbook, you won't leave empty handed.

My father is a member of a local Car club and they normally buy a vehicle and then the whole group will work on it throughout the year. Then they have a fundraiser at the end of the year and auction off the vehicle. Win for the new owner and the charity that they support gets the funds. Its just a way for them to get together and learn how to turn a wrench so they can work on their own vehicles too. Really wish we had a group around here like that. This one would be a great project for that and I'd learn a lot about my own.

I would be VERY interested in the outcome with the tear down of this truck. Wonder if it had the 4.7 or the 5.7 engine.
The article states "117 dealership service visits over nine years, ranging from timing belt replacements, oil changes, and the manufacturer's regularly scheduled check-ups." If the comment about timing belt is accurate, then it is a 4.7L, correct?

It's a 2UZ. You can read the 4.7 if you zoom in on this pic.

Nice find. I think we all agree the 2uz is built to last. If the 5.7 has a timing chain anyone have any reports of a extremely high mileage 5.7? Wonder how the 5.7 compares as far as durability.

I looked over on the Tundra forum and saw a few with 250,000 plus but that's not really high miles considering what several 4.7 engines have. I guess we can check back in with the guy from Houma, La and see what his has in a couple years, should be up to 400,000 plus.

Bought mine last month 175k miles never seen one so clean and neither did Stadium Toyota, they didn't even bother to try to sell me any services when I went in for my preroadtrip check up.
Just drove it cross country 2500 miles thru the desert temps topping 117 degrees. Didn't bat an eye, AC on in front and rear whole time.

Ate up the highways like a fat man at golden corral at 75 mph at 16.5 mpg

Glad I had the 06 with vvti for those mountains at the end of I8 before San Diego.

Best road trip vehicle I've ever been in and I imagine the 200 is even better.
