OK @JohnBoy: The inside; misc.; a PTO trap door, with I hope and think OEM hardware (having never seen said hardware before). Correct seats with PO added headrests, utilizing the mounting hardware which came unutilized inside US models. A few missing OEM knobs (throttle, choke, cigarette lighter, all to be added. A place for a Vader light (at the Post Office now). Toggle is the standard/auxiliary gas gage readout (not working). PO push button purpose, unknown. Nice working PO light in hole added over the ash tray. Will keep that for now.

A piercing in the transmission hump, courtesy of the switch to 4 speed?

Dome light works, yeah! Cup holder, now gone. Upholstery, all nice.View attachment 1827374 View attachment 1827376 View attachment 1827377 View attachment 1827378 View attachment 1827379

I thought the Vader light was only on the FST versions— my 69 FST has one near the glove box. Nice you have a PTO— I added one on but made sure it was 100% stock including the exact location of hump hole and flap. Love the color!!

The location of the trap door looks right. The PTO works, that's cool. Don't know if was factory installed, but the knob's correct and the trap door paint matches.

I'm going wild departing from stock with the Vader light, I prefer it to the delete plug in my dash, but will safely store that plug. The Vader light will have company with a PO added dash light over the ash tray, but I have a plan to give that bit a makeover via a hood from an Indian motorcycle light. Pics to follow.

Anyone know which throttle knob would be correct for a 7-'71 built FJ40?
Illustrations in '68 and '71 owners manuals show a knob with a single row of gas droplets. Matt has one. There is also a design with a double row of droplets that came on my '68. I'd like to get the right one. The throttle option is needed for maintaining rpms while using the PTO.

I know for a 69, the correct knob is double rows notwithstanding the pix in the owner's manual. The double row is not easy to find. Mine was missing and I bought an NOS one for you would not believe me if I told you $$$$.

I have both on my 69 (may or june of 68 build) and neither is hooked up
JP

Hi JP ,

please elaborate how " u have Both on your 69 " , But neither is hooked up ?

can u post a photo of what u are referring to

i sorta interpret that as u have the one with a single row of gas droplets as your choke maybe & the one with 2 rows of gas droplets as your throttle ............Maybe ?

and the choke is not hooked up because u run a Webber electric choke or something to that effect , maybe ?

anyway , Im eager to see a photo of the Dueling Gas Droplets knobs in action , that would be a first :)

thanks

all this discussion about the Period correct Throttle & Choke cable knob's Text Font Logo design & The Atomized Fuel Droplets topic or lack

there of got me thinking about the one and only other time i have ever seen this discussed on MUD . It was @Marty 's Classified Wanted Ad

for one , ( Wanted - 1969 FJ40 Throttle Control Cable )

so i went back just now and reviewed it ,

- Martins owners manual show a FJ40 with 1 row of droplets

- kieths owners manual has 1 row of FJ40 droplets too

- marks inventory at the time has 4 double rows & 4 single rows , so even numbers of trucks he has taken in ?

- the @thecrazygreek Knob / cable has one row from a Feb. of 1969 fj40

- i recently restored a single row of droplets for a 1970 fj40 in AZ , please see photo below

- @65swb45 mentions in @Martyt ad that :
" You will note the distinction between 40 and 55 series: 40 series has the double set of fuel drops and a butterfly at a right angle. 55 series has a single set of drops and a diagonal butterfly. "

- i have Never seen a Mistake or Misprint in a Toyota Factory Owners Manual of any kind , Ever ...........

- i have also Never seen the Double Fuel droplets knob logo design ever on any print Media ?

- So i started thinking what if the Double Fuel droplets is actually a Choke knob logo because the butterfly if Fully Closed or Shut in the design ? But that would be in conflict with and go against the Extra Double fuel droplets Raining down into the Venturi of the Carburetor

- ok , Now im going in Deep o_O

What if the Double Fuel droplets design is specific to a FJ55 for reasons we can only speculate 50 years after it was sold New and drove off

Kieth's Local Southwest , Washington Dealership Lot in 1969 by a Guy Named Hubert Harris ?

- so , now i set out to find a early FJ55 owners manual online somewhere & here on MUD as a PDF , no luck

- ready to say F it , & move on to packing the last of my weekend orders , it clicked that i had a possible Lead

- My trusty August of 1969 Stand Alone FJ55 only Model Chassis & Body FSM

- i thumbed through all the way till the 2nd to last page and there it was .................

- if u look closely at the center of the FJ55 knob , the Fuel droplets go from the center butterfly pivot point all the way down to the bottom or inside rim or bevel of the knob ,

- The FJ55 Double droplets knob appears to be in the Choke knob location ? , But i Do Not know the dash layout of a early 1969 FJ55 that well ...o_O

- on the Single droplets knob , they stay Only down low towards the bottom of the choke butterfly , the center mid section is free of fuel droplets

- i will also be the first one to say , the Double Fuel droplets Throttle knob image in the 1969 fj55 chassis & Body FSM is small & Grainy when Magnified , it is also a 50 Year old book , but in very good condition , the image can be open to speculation & interpretation

- what i can see with the Naked eye is a double fuel droplets knob

- if anyone else has this FSM , please review the 2nd to last page in detail and post your input

That must be Sherlock Holmes' magnifying glass @RAGINGMATT bought and restored. :)

Taking this a bit further, since nearly all choke and throttle cable I have ever seen are froze (four, or six if you count holes and aftermarket), maybe one design was Mr. T's original, and the other model was stocked as an OEM replacement and was a ______ design (fill in the blank for your vote).
Over time, using @65swb45's data set, maybe at least half froze up. Or maybe all of them froze up, and Mark got equal proportions unstuck?
@Martyt's NOS knob was double row. Maybe they all were at some point? Anyone ever see an NOS single row knob?
And if so, and just for fun, how expensive was it?

Full picture of choke and throttle knobs that came on my '68 (FD know was from an earlier rig).

Hey @RAGINGMATT these are the two I have they are the same as what @HelloKitty65 just posted a pic of the second pic you can see both ends are just hanging down and not in use. I`m running a Sniper EFI so no need for a choke.

This idiot paid $900 as I recall. I have seen pix of a very low mileage concours 69 FJ40 FST with double rows. See one pix above.

Notice the rear heater delete— mine is the same
