The Red barron, FJ73 middy FOR SALE!

Thought id start abit of a build/pic thread on my middy.

Basically its a 85 model FJ73, 3F carby.

-ARB winch bar
-Scrub bars/sliders
-Custom rear bar to suit the chop
-OME 60 series rear leaves front and rear with 2'' extended shackles
-Lockers
-Rear draws and fridge
-High clearance U bolt plates
-Front diff 45mm forward

Many more bits and pieces done if you want to know just ask!

Next major mod i'm aiming for is tough front CV's and axels really dont want to bust any. Also need to build a new transmission bash plate as I totaled the stock one.

Below are a heap of pics from when I got it till now basically

Picked up some old ARB 75 series scrub bars/side steps the other day. Bit of work, new mounts and an extra tube and they should go on nicely. Today I had them sandblasted and painted them up. Tomorrow they should be going on.

Nice pics Hulsty;) Good to see someone actually wheels their 7* series.
The scrub bars were a real find. They want about $500 for them at an ARB store

middys are where its at!! I nearly bought a FZJ75 but having the wagon is just s handy I dont think i'll go a ute now.

I priced up the bars locally and they were about 600ish and they dont have them to suit a middy anymore, just long wheel base chassis.

Have upgraded the lights now, IPF 110/80W globes in the main lights and IPF 900 driving lights, once I save some cash i'll put HID's in.

Tested fitted my new rubber today, they rubbed abit on the front body mount and on the inner guards so tidied that up some this arvo. They still rub on the top of the front inner guards but I cant help that anymore without a body lift. Cars nearly ready to get back out on the tracks, just need to sort out the front drive shaft.

.

Why wouldnt the 75 series ute bars fit? Same length from rear of door to bullbar.

From what i've checked out ute ones are a freckle to long, the rear mount is where the chassis begins to kickup and where the spring mount is on a middy.

I thought about that after I posted. Sounds like something that could be fixed with a welder but I think your local steel fabricator could do that at a competative price. I had some old style alloy sidesteps on my 73 which were fitted when new.
It sure kept the rocker panels and paint in good condition.

Heres vid from the weekend just gone, absolutely PISSED down with rain.
Really cool vid. Canucksafari will be doing double somersaults when finds out someone made a movie with Pootrols in it:D

Should have posted it on Chat where more would have seen it;)

I went through the Otways in 93,nice place.
I heard it was off limits now:rolleyes:

where is the chat section? I might chuck it in there. The Otways is nice, did the tourist thing with the mrs over Xmas, this time with the boys. Some tracks have been closed recently but everything else is fair game.

If you cant find Chit Chat on MUD how did you find your way out of the Otways?;)
