Will definitely stay safe. Fortunately I have no trips planned for Mexico till next year, that gives me some time to test the 100 and see what else needs attention.
I drove it most of last week down in Mexico city and I just loved it. Normally armored cars after a wile have rattles all over the place. But this one had very few and they where taken care off by minor adjustments done at the armoring company.
I did notice a small bell like noise coming from behind the cluster panel or the steering area. The sound is more like when you strike a coin to a thin metal plate. I know it is not the fire wall armor because it is covered with a noise insulator. And since I had the shipping of the truck set up I could not send it back to the armoring company for inspection. The noise comes when I hit a puthole or even parked if you closed the door to hard you can hear the noise again. Sounds like something loose. I'lll figure it out when it gets here. I might have the stereo installed in a few weeks so I'll grab that opportunity to sort it out.
I will post some more photos of the other upgrades when I get the 100 home.

I also have a 2006 100. And, it is PAINFULLY slow. Oh, it sounds strong and solid - great engine for sure... but not for a 5,000+ lbs. truck and certainly not for a (guessing) 8,000lbs. truck.
I bring that up really as a question... If the truck is armored and has proactive defensive systems, wouldn't being able move faster than a 1979 diesel Rabbit be somewhat toward the top of the list? I'm surprised on a "no expense spared" build for this application, there wasn't a super charger or a 5.7 swap... with a super charger.

That is a great point. I actually feel the car heavy on the acceleration but it is even better than my previous armored SUV.
I'm researching the supercharger option. I have read some post on the forum there is a 4.7 supercharger from TRD.
The previous owner (the first owner that had the car armored) had this as his family car. On a day to day basis he drove an Armored BMW M5. He substituted the M5 and the 100(now mine) for an armored X5M.
Having said that maybe that's why he never made power upgrades.
I'm seriously considering the supercharger. But I will drive the 100 the next couple of months to determine if It will be the option or not.

Status upddate....
Finally got my 100 home after a couple of months sitting in Mexico city.
Inmarsat antenna was installed before shipping to El Paso.
So far only new mode done are the weather tech digital liners.

Hi every one, here are some recent pics I took of my rig. No mayor mods have been done yet. But looking forward to next week when she goes in to the shop for much needed brake job.

Also, since you mentioned driving armored cars for a long time, have you ever had the (bad) fortune of testing it out? In other words, did anyone ever shoot at one of your vehicles?

Security wise, there are not many other upgrades to do, I need to have a local electrician work on getting the strobe warning lights working again and some interior foot well lights.
The rest of the upgrades I think will be more in the order to make it more comfortable to drive long distance.

Hi man, the tires are off the rack Michellins LTX's A/T,
The tires by them selves are regular tires. The wheels how ever have a ring attached to them that makes the whole thing a run flat system. Like the one in the attached photo.

Hi man, At first when I moved back to the states that I needed to start using the armor to go into Mexico I thought I had to at least notify the local PD, but no... they said they have no rules on that. If it has the tear gas they interpret it as any old pepper spray canister you carry on you.
I had my brother who is an attorney research it a bit more and just for added compliance, we concluded that it would also be covered under Texas concealed weapon licensing. So In a way its a weapon with 4 wheels. So for any case I just carry my concealed license all the time even if I have no fire arm with me.
Going to Mexico is whole other story, you do require a permit from the Federal Government and for added safety since we do drive down there armed, the mexican Army has also issued me and the guys that go with me down there gun permits and armored vehicle use permits.
The armor is like car insurance, you have it hopping you never have to use it. Fortunately I have never had to test it.
My cousin on the other hand, has tested it to the extreme. He was going to be abducted 3 years ago while driving home from a golf match in Mexico. His Tundra saved his life and his kids life. Out of frustration the kidnapers fired 120 rounds with an AK 47, not harming any one inside the truck and allowing them to escape and allowing Mexican Army to escort them to safety.

That run flat rings on the wheels have adjustment nuts that loosen the ring from the wheel it is not welded. How ever when you are done with your old set of tires, the guys at the tire shop usually just cut the side wall to save time on removing the tire from the wheel.
To install them
The usually mount the tire first on the wheel and then insert in two pieces the inner ring to the wheel and lock them in together and then finish installing the tire.
Thats why in a sence the best wheels for armored cars are hutchinson which are two piece and can be easily mounted by a tire shop. Even the secret service fits all of its armored suburbans with dose wheels. That would probably be an upgrade for my rig in the future.
As for balancing, I'm not sure how much weight the rings add but it works like any other balanced tire.
So if the 100 is armored, than the Ferrari flys, right?

yes the jet packs are hidden in the exhausts and missiles are in the front intakes LOL

On a side note, one of my good friends in high school was half Canadian / Mexican and each summer he went to down to stay with his mom's relatives in Mexico City to visit. Where he was it wasn't too bad, but I need to ask him how stuff is now. Sad that you need to worry about this kind of stuff.

Do you have the factory nav? Right now there isn't an easy solution if you do (since if the touchscreen controls a lot of the climate control). I believe RobRed is doing a wiring harness (cruiserops.com) and is rolling it out for earlier 100 series then the more recent ones (05+) hopefully in 2013! It let's you put in any double din radio you want and converts the HVAC controls to factory turn knobs.
