FWIW a loose gas cap can trigger this code. I’d expect that to be temporary tho, not a permanent code, but I may be wrong.

Any other ideas on what to remedy or try aside from a new gas cap?

In speaking to LRA last week, they suggested that the next thing I try is to replace that little filter on the vent line coming from the charcoal filter.

I’m waiting for that filter to arrive.
I’m hoping it solves my issue. If so, I’ll look at that filter as just a maintenance item. Changing it out once a year.

Are you talking about the LRA included mesh air filter part? Or something from Toyota?

The LRA one.

But like I said, I haven’t solved the issue yet. So at this point I’m just repeating what they told me.

I'm getting this code now after replacing my gas cap assembly, the charcoal cannister, and one of the two vacuum switching valve assemblies on top of my engine (25860-0s020). Any other solutions people have found luck with?

I DO have an LRA tank.

FWIW - I'm still getting the P2420 and know it's not unusual to get the P0441 with it. Replaced gas cap, no luck. I also purchased two of the valve assemblies but have not installed them yet.

I have a strong suspicion that it's related to the wiring harness (possibly damaged) on the charcoal canister and the only way to get to it is dropping my LRA 24 tank.

I personally know a local 200 owner who was having numerous evap code issues with his 24 aux tank, even putting his 200 into limp mode. After dropping the tank, it was obvious the harness going into the CC was damged. During the install, you are supposed to bend down a tab that keeps the harness from rubbing. It sounds like sometimes this is not done.

If you replaced a CC and are still having issues, there is a good chance it is the harness. How is your CC breather plumbed? There have been some install errors here too.

Thanks for the replies. The breather hose is plumbed above the actual filler neck with a K&N air filter on a 90 degree fitting at the end of the hose. New charcoal cannister as of a couple weeks ago. Interesting data point about the wiring harness. I can't speak to the harness as I don't trust myself to drop the tank alone given I haven't ever done this sort of thing before. I'd want to watch a pro/experienced person do it at least once before I drop it on my own.

bump for any new p0441 EVAP code remedies/solutions from mudders.

I'm still leaning on the wiring harness in your case given all the other parts you have replaced. Did they confirm harness was inspected and in good shape when the CC was replaced?

I talked to Slee when I was in CO last month and they said it's not that difficult to drop the LRA. (empty, disconnect hose from filler neck, disconnect vent and wire to pump, remove bolts, use jack to help lower etc).

@TeCKis300 has a thread on it with some tips below:

Not sure if Ward at LRA has a video on dropping an existing/installed LRA 24 on a LC 200.

FWIW - I ordered a new CC during that recent Serra Toyota online sale but don't expect it will arrive for several weeks or more and my permanent evap code P2420 mysteriously cleared after wheeling in CO last month. At some point I expect my P2420 and maybe the P0441 will return and I'm gonna have to drop the LRA to inspect harness and swap CC.

I too went ahead and ordered another CC given the sale. It'll be a while before it arrives. But I am still seeing P2420 as a permanent stored code with the p0441 still triggering the CEL. I think dropping the tank is in my future....again. 😐

Not sure how far away you are in NC from BudBuilt? They have done a few.

(hopefully) the last bump of this thread for anything new. I'm taking it in tomorrow to a trustworthy shop to see what they find. TIA for anything new from mudder minds!

Nothing new on mine, code has not come back since it disappeared in the San Juan, CO mountains late July. Based on history, I'm sure it will mysteriously surface back up at some point. Anxious to see how your service visit shakes out.

Interesting that it disappeared up there since basically every truck at LCDC was boiling gas all week.

Maybe it boiled off any gas in the lines too?

Indeed weird. Trying to see if their is any logic to the madness...

July 25 - did trails with Cruisers on the Rockies group, had permanent evap code. Talked to Slee about it that evening at the Whiskey tasting.
July 26 - more trails, permanent code mysteriously cleared
July 27 - more trails
July 30 - LCDC more trails
July 31 - Several trails, very long day and we all boiled gas in my group
Aug 1 - one more trail then headed back East, boiling gas in Dillon ...

I left that code in CO and hope it stays there. lol

After spending some time with the guys at the shop and talking to them, it seems as though the one switching valve I DIDN'T replace (but bought in anticipation of swapping out anyways) ended up being the solenoid/valve combo that was the culprit. The EVAP system was nice and tight after smoke testing, but the CEL persisted.

Part 25860-0S010 (in a 2021) for those who are also afflicted by the P0441 code.

Apparenly the EVAP test runs every 2-300 miles or so. I will update if the CEL comes back. I am hopeful it will not as it usually does by now compared to my past experiences since I've been chasing this code.

In the meantime, I am sitting on a brand new charcoal canister I hope to not have to replace. Again.

That's good news, you got to the bottom of it.

FWIW - I also bought that same part two years ago (still sitting on my shelf) and never installed.

Knock on wood my evap code gremlins have disappeared...

Thanks for the update 👍
