Great looking dogs

When Bristol first came we had four dogs for a time. That was a herd. We have found 3 works for us. Sometimes tough because Bristol needs to be on a lead, she follows her nose.
@Izzyandsue, I can't imagine three of yours, that is a lot of dog flesh. I would imagine any would be burglar would move on to the next house.

Gabby and Shep.

Gabby passed away a couple weeks ago at the age of 19. A 10 pound Papillon mix that pretty much controlled the house. Missing my girl.

Shep, some form of black lab mix, was dumped at our farm as a young pup. Gabby found him in some brush. He's 13 now and seems to be enjoying his time without the wicked Papillon around. A water dog, a pretend hunter, and 100% "ladies man". A great friend to have.

Sorry Rice about losing the pup.

I am happy this thread was resurrected.

S4Cruiser, also sorry to hear about your loss.....I appreciate you resurrecting this thread and sharing. Our family is expecting to be sharing your grief in the near future with.....

Bob....yes, I have a dog named Bob....I got to pick out the name since we were getting what i considered to not be a very "manly" dog, option #2 was Q-tip!
Bichon Frise
will be 16 years in Nov.
Bob is unlike any other Bichon we have encountered....laid back, not yappy or high strung. Will let the kids do anything to him as you can see below. We have had friends and family get a Bichon after encountering Bob only to be woefully disappointed and in some cases, give the dog away! He is my wingman when i am home....moves from room to room with me and lays down. Sleeps about 22 hours a day. Highpoint of the day is about 5:30 pm when he knows that it's time for his "Bob ball" which is either a concoction of leftovers my wife has frozen into balls (hence the name) for thawing or most likely a container of froofy Cesar wet food!
Anybody recognize the "critter" on Bob? We were amazed that he let it crawl around his back! We got Bob when our youngest daughter was 1 and she just turned 17.....it's the only dog she's known. We previously had a boxer and a Weimaraner.

How do you like the sugar glider?? I've always thought they would super cool...but I imagine our cats would eat them :(.

Sorry Rice about losing the pup.

I am happy this thread was resurrected.

Thanks. I was glad to see this thread come back as well, even though under sucky circumstances. Jon's loss right after Gabby was a pungent reminder of the short moment these wonderful animals have with us. Really helps seeing ONSC folks enjoying time with their pups.

I propose beer and some great pup stories the next time we're all together.

I like that dogs are a big part of the club. Like when we drove into group camp at LR, saw two Whippets and knew we were in the right place. We've lost three dogs in the last six years along with two horses. It gets no easier but I'd never miss that little snot woofing at the back of my chair right now. I can only hope that I go in the same direction my dogs have when it's my turn to go.

Larry, the sugarglider, was a fun but temporary resident about 5 years ago. The youngest princess saw it at the Mall on Black Friday with her cousins and put together her own $ to buy it. The getting him out of his cage and making him go to the bathroom was quite the challenge and the scratches on the hands was more than she signed up for so he now resides with a teacher in Columbia that has had a few. I took him to work a few times and he was quite content to stay in my shirt pocket and sleep! Also being nocturnal and zipping around the cage all night was not the best thing for the family! I would agree that cats would not mix with sugargliders!

I have little dogs. I had various dogs over the years prior to meeting my current wife. Had a Great Dane, a pug, a cocker spaniel.... now.... we have s***zu's. Because the wife is allergic and they're hypoallergenic..

And they're cute and friendly... so I love em.

This is Ollie, the slightly older but smaller one. He's about 8 lbs or so, not fixed so if you meet him and you bring a dog... he is highly likely to hump away..... That's ok though, his bed takes most of the punishment.

This is Ruby, the younger and now larger one. This pic is when we first got her:

here's a more recent one of her. She's about 12 lbs now. I'm mocking her underbite....

One of my biggest regrets is not introducing my dog, Kaiya, to everyone in the club. Obviously, we have many members that have a true love for their four legged family members. However, my wife is not at all into off roading so she stays home, but she does not feel safe at home without Kaiya around because she is extremely protective. Doesn't matter how many firearms she has access too, its the dog that makes her feel safe.

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life and it was important to me that my boys were raised having a dog. I am now 39 and have always had a dog. I feel fortunate to say that I have only had three dogs in my life. Even for big dogs, they all have lived a very long and happy lives.

Without further ado, this is Kaiya. She was born on 12-5-2006. Growing up almost everyone assumes she is a Lab, but she is actually half Great Dane and half Pit Bull. And at her peak she was around 110-115 lbs.

Kaiya became insanely protective of my wife when she became pregnant with our first child. That continued as the kids grew up. If I am not around she is always right next to my boys, like its her job.

Now she is getting older and grayer like her old man. Unfortunately, like most big dogs of her size her back legs are starting to have issues. She is not as fast as she used to be, but she always wants to go on adventures. She is the primary reason why I will never get rid of the AHC system. Dropping it down to L is a big help at this point in her life.

Of all the dogs I have ever owned she is by far the best. She was raised to never be on a leash and she never ever leaves my side without instructing her to do so. I feel very fortunate that she has been a part of our family for so long.

Maybe one day I will be able to drag her away from my wife and bring her out.

@S4Cruiser - So sorry to hear about Missy's passing Jon. She was a great companion for you guys and always super friendly when I saw her.

Miss Daisy came into our lives Easter of 2010, and she'll be 7 in February.
This goofy, doesn't even know she's a dog, girl never leaves my side..until @fourtrax comes home. She's more obsessed with my dad than she is anyone else. He's the only one she'll bring the frisbee back to.
My first dog, and I can almost guarantee the best dog I'll ever have. At least that's what I'm told.
She doesn't bark, which is kind of a beautiful thing that the household has gotten spoiled with.
We could accidentally leave her out front and she will lay by one of the doors until someone comes out to get her. She likes hanging out in the garage with dad as he works, but he's not a big fan of the dog hair on absolutely everything he touches.
She can kill some ice cubes like you'd never believe.

This is Tank. He is approximately 3 years old now. My daughter picked him out from a SPCA in Virginia when
He was a pup. Not sure of exact breed, but some kind of hound mix.

This is Lex. My wife bought him from Arkansas. He's a Shih-poo, and all of 10 pounds. 5 years old now, and doesn't shed. I swore I'd never have a dog in my bed, but this guy sleeps with us almost every night.

Today we said goodbye to our protector for the past 17 years. Bear was a Chow that felt profound duty to guard my family from the UPS, Contractors, Friends, and Squirrels. He was a great dog for us and the home will be much emptier without him.

You've done your job well, Buddy. Your watch has ended.

So sorry to hear Jeremy. Our thoughts will be with you and the family. Bear seems to have served his term with honor and pride from the looks of that pic.

Rice and Jeremy - Great dogs - served their lives for their masters and loved us all - so sorry to see them go, but they had lives of love that so many others do not get. They surely lived wonderful lives with you both, but doesn't make it easy to let them go.

Harry is 14 now and we can see something is wrong - hearing/sight possibly going a bit - - we love him extra now and don't take our time for granted.

Alex sent us a great picture of him from Logan's run:
