God what beautiful country - it says a lot about your confidence in your rig that you would venture so far from civilization with it. About how far away was help if you needed it?
Alma is the nearest town, which is about 10 miles from the top. I have kept the truck pretty well maintained as far as AHC, bushings, springs, etc. All of the standard items. It runs like a top and is built like a tank. I would take it anywhere within reason.

What was the sketchy part of Sand Hollow - on the way up to top of the world?
Keep wanting to explore there but we always run out of time, we have friends in Hurricane.
Also, really admire you going out there at this time of year in these temps.
I'm on the lookout for altitude or a place by a lake or river.

We packed, loaded, and filled up yesterday. Leaving for Silverton in a few minutes.

Many of the trails are not well marked and you end up in places where the only way out is down a 50’ sand dune with your wife and mother in law screaming at you (theoretically). The way up to top of the world wasn’t bad. And yeah, trying to sleep in 90+ degree heat at 11pm is rough. I’m used to 6500’

I watch all their episodes lol

Just got back from a 2,500 mile trip with the old girl out West. We ran some great trails in CO and UT, found great camping spots, shared stories, food and laughter with good friends and came back refreshed. The old girl did GREAT and got us back in one piece. Some lessons learned on equipment and modifications that need to be addressed, but overall very happy with the setup.

Lots of good times... Waved at every 100 we saw along the way.. Maybe a few of them were some of you guys.. 🤙

^^ Nik, what? you had to pay $500 extra to have the trailer hooked up to the truck and taken along when they already had to take the 100 on the truck? No extra distance and hardly any extra time and work? Wow... That seems pretty sketchy.

Yep AAA did disclose that the trailer was extra.
Tow truck co and the driver called me before going out and quoted me $512 for the 55 mile trip. It was 106 degrees on I70 yesterday so it was one of those Get er done moments . The hotel was $ 245 since i have a small dog and no reservations. My mechanic in the Bay Area just installed 863J springs , oil change, power steering and Radiator flush,Brakes inspected too with tire rotation last weekend for this trip. Grateful we are safe and cant wait to head to our destination
