90% of the trail is really mellow and totally doable in either of those vehicles. However there are a few spots on the trail that would be pretty sketchy. There are a few spots that you have to do a little crawling, and then there's a really sketchy climb up to campsite Murphy hogback that I wouldn't feel comfortable doing unless I had good low range. The biggest factor for me however would be that you are so remote. If one of those vehicles breaks or gets stuck (to the point you cannot rescue them), then it is a haul to get back to anyone.
We did it in July (bad idea), and we were the only ones on the trail. If we would have broken down mid-way, it would have been a 4-5 hour drive back (booking it) to the ranger station. I would look and see if any of the rental companies in Moab allow their rentals on the trail, because you would be better off in a jeep than those vehicles you mentioned. Awesome trail, but committing trail at the same time.
