Interesting info on the drop brackets, I will keep that in mind. I might keep my eyes open for a used set of the 2" or 3" ones to play with as I still have not addressed my caster issues.

I had some time to play with some different thicknesses of steel strap and have decided my rock rail idea is not practical and will fold up pretty easy. However, I contacted Adam at 4x innovations and he is going to supply a bracket/leg kit with out the cat protection bracket but instead a laser cut plate and section of pipe for a very reasonable price. I am pretty excited about this option and can still build my main sliders however I decide.

The rear brackets are the bigger hang up - no pun intended. That and the way some sliders attach doesn't work well with the front ones.

Looks like a pretty neat kit. I like the u-shape for the slider mounts, good clearance.

I really wanted to keep things as simple as possible, I have to pay my welder hourly as my welding skills are not very good. If I can have 90% of the leg work done and have him show up and just weld everything together I can keep the overhead down. I really like the brackets that 4x sells and that kit keeps it simple for me. The cat skid is not going to be included in my kit, I am bypassing it and using the high clearance Magnaflow cats. My second cat finally showed up a couple days ago so I am good to go on that too. Now I just need a little more money and a little more time to make this all come together.

Finally got something accomplished on the cruiser, new rear brakes and got the Magnaflow low profile cats installed. I was going to go over the axle but I have to run two cats per CO emissions and I didn't have the space (length too long) so I had them welded in the stock location with a new hanger. Turned out decent and in return got a noticeable increase in performance. What really needs to happen is to shorten the Y-pipe, relocate the primary O2 sensor, and move the cats up and forward to make it over the axle and increase clearance even more but I did not have the resources or time to do that.

I could use some input, I am thinking about extending the pipe straight back and going under the frame just in front of the rear control arm mount and making a brace/slider to protect it. I can then run up over the axle and put the muffler in the back where the spare tire used to go. I have not seen this done before but it would be easy and my train of thought is that the pipe would be better protected closer to a tire but I don't know for sure.

Have not made an updates in a while but the truck has been work well and just now made some changes. Some final shots before getting rid of the 35's

And now with studded 285 Duratrac's for the winter and a Kaymar spare tire carrier. The 285's are much nicer on the road and easier on the wallet at the gas pump. The downside is it looks kind of lame, 315's just fit with the 80 so well.

Picked up a JDM license plate bracket and got it installed today in the cold. I had the light and bracket for the Kaymar but I didn't want to fuss with running wires and preferred the clean install of the JDM bracket. Looks pretty decent, thanks G&S Cruiser Parts for getting me the bracket!

Hey there I`am running a supercharged 6.5 chev diesel in my 80 series with manual trans H151F through 4.1`s and 305/70/16 Micky Thompsons MTZ and was wondering if there are any diff ratio`s arond the 3.4 to 3.5 available I know i can get 3.7`s I`m just trying to get lower engine rev`s while highway cruising or should I just stick with the 3.7`s

My suggestion is figuring your final ratio with 35 and 37 inch tires and just going up in tire size.

kbahus,

nice build you have going, keep it up. i have a question about your iron man and OME spring combo. do you see a need to do any sort of caster correction? i just ordered IM 2" constant load front springs today. i notice their 2" kit doesnt come with any kind of caster correction so i'm hoping i won't need it. 862's will come a little later in the month. i'm doing it one piece at a time like Johnny Cash.

thanks
shiran

I ran for a long time without any caster correction and it wasn't bad. Since the level lift reduces the stink bug effect that helps with the caster too. This last winter I installed some 3" MAF drop brackets just to see how things changed and it made a huge improvement on how the truck drives. If you don't want caster correction you can get away without it, but I highly recommend correcting the caster. The brackets are a little too low for my comfort offroad and I will likely switch to plates when I switch things up again with springs.

Thanks for that. I'll keep the MAF brackets in mind.

I ran the MAF 3" drop brackets for years. I ran my truck hard through the rocks and never felt they were an issue. There was much debate about them at the time, but I seriously only hung up on them once that I remember, and that was back up a rock that I never should have done down in the first place.

Had my friend Tyler at Hawk Industries fab up a rear bumper for me, it's a long overdue addition. Still have some work to do on the latch and lock pin but overall I love it. Used an IPOR spindle, Destaco latch, and a locking pin from Grainger. Used the "sean" bumper for the general shape as I loved the simplicity.

Some recent pics with the new Cooper ST/Maxx's installed, these are my new favorite tire and replaced my well used Duratrac's.
