Nah, for now just several standard outlets, probably at least two circuits. I am at least going to do a 400A main so if I were to need one down the road I will have the room.

Not sure how NES handles them, but if they won't destroy you on the monthly minimum, I would recommend going with a 400A main and go with the most slots you can in the panel. Extra slots are good. The 200A at out old house had 1 spare slot... 1. That was useless for adding anything more than an outlet. I am also going to have them drop me 2 conduits out the back, 1 for a 100A to my barn now and a spare for future projects. Easy to go ahead and have them drop it now than to have to try to work that in later.

If I ever do a bigger shop I will probably just put it on a separate service.

I spent today out at the farm working on the trench for the water line. I got a couple hundred feet in before the rock got me. They loaded the porches with rock and are planning to pour them tomorrow. I am now looking for either a rock saw to rent or someone to cut the ditch for me. I also have my water line being delivered tomorrow. I can get the line in the ditch that I have opened up and just cap off the endsfor now. That way the ditch I opened up today won't be wasted.

On to the pictures.

The ditchwitch drive was off so the ditch got kinda crooked in a place or 2.

Well, apparently either my phone, my internet or MUD are having some issues, so the rest will have to wait for later.

Before you back fill, make sure the water company dose not want to inspect it, I covered mine and had to dig down to the line in a couple spots to prove I had the line deep enough.

Thanks Roger, on my side of the meter has to be 18" +/- and they don't want to check it. I got about 150' backfilled today. Fighting that 2" PEX wore my A$$ out.

They got the porches poured today, delivered the fiberglass shower inserts and dropped off a 30 yd dumpster. It was a busy day.

They we're pouring the back when I left, had several more hours of finishing to do to get it slicked up.

Got a few more on my phone but it looks like 2 is tonight's limit.... Anyone else have trouble uploading pics. Not sure but guessing it is the size of the files.

 funny, funny. Gonna have to put a tape on it next time we're out there

nice porch but it looks about 6" too short...:lol:

Looks like a great porch. Durable and low maintenance ... a clear winner for decades of enjoyment.

time to catch up with new pics...i'm sure there have been some changes on the "FARM"...

What a great project! What are you going to do when it's done? Shop?

are you kidding? Matt always has about 12 other projects going at the same time. Right now it's a house, a tractor, a barn, a couple of 80s, a sammy, a farm truck and a few other things I can't think of right now but he'll never get bored. This is kinda why we keep him around, for entertainment. :moon:

Ted, you know me too well. :D

What a great project! What are you going to do when it's done? Shop?

Right now the next thing on the list (you know once we actually get the house done) will be getting the power over to the barn and getting that cleaned up and ready for some wrenching. See to-do list as noted above  GSMTR is just around the corner...

I'm not sure what my condition is called, but like Ted said, I always have something in mind to do, but time or money always seem to run in short supply. Lately pretty much everything has been on hold while we work on the house. That is the priority and while that is going on we are living in about 900 SF and we are all about to go a little nuts trying not to trip over each other.

@Elbert sorry I been slacking on updates lately. The things happening these days are the ones that are not nearly as exciting to see.

They finished up the porches that Wednesday. We went by and looked them over the Sunday after Thanksgiving and they turned out really well (will post a couple pictures off my phone shortly)

They started doing rough in wiring last week. Nothing earth shattering there, just several thousand feet of wire and lots of little blue boxes. Also, Erin likes switches and I think we may win the award for most 4-gang switch boxes in a single house ( I think I counted 4 or 5 today when I was out there) I also went ahead and gave them the go ahead on a PEX distribution manifold system on the plumbing. I expect that they will start doing the rough in plumbing this week.

The siding was delivered today or yesterday so they will probably start on that this week I hope. I commissioned a local mill to cut me 15 - 10"x10" solid cedar posts for the porch, which should go up with the siding.

So if that all actually comes together, then the exterior of the house should be pretty well wrapped up in a couple weeks. Then it will look finished, while we wait on the tedious finish work continues inside.

As I noted above, I am working to get a rock saw out there to finish cutting my water line ditch so I can finish that up, and with that and a call to the propane company, I should have my commitments met and can just sit back and ride out the next few months til moving day.

I am on the computer, but will post up a couple of pictures that I have in just a minute.

Edit: My phone isn't being kind to me, looking like I need transfer them to a computer, but I got this one of the driveway end of the garage.

I had over 200 tons of stone delivered to fill the porches and we had some extra so went ahead and started working on the driveway.

Here is Hannah standing on about 5.5' of that stone filling the porch prior to concrete going in.

I will see if I can get some of the others I have up tomorrow.

We are making headway. They are about done with rough-in. The siding is almost finished. It is coming together. I have a guy that is supposed to finish trenching the for the water line as soon as he can get a good couple of days of weather. The cabinet guy wants to meet this week to go over the final layout and nail it down.

We've been working on misc. stuff around the farm when we get out there. I finished up the soffit and trim on one end of the barn today and moved gravel around the stoop in front of the barn. And climbed up under the house to fire up a pump to try and get all the water out from under there.... That was fun

Anyway, I got a few pictures of the progress.

We went with the PEX manifold, so meet our plumbing spider

Siding on the back is finished up except over the back bedroom, it gets shake. You can also see the little cut I made to help divert some of the water.

Hopefully they will get rough-in inspections this week and then it will be ready for insulation. Steady progress in the right direction. I'm pleased so far and Erin is ready to move in, Like tomorrow if she could.

Couple shots from inside.

It would be nice and cozy with a fire in there.

Bout time for a little update.

Last 2 weeks have been steady. Finished up all the siding except one gable because they ran out of siding. They put the "splash coat" down and have all of the main house insulated. Like a little finishing up the garage. Guessing they may start hanging sheetrock this week, but not 100% sure on that. My biggest issue has been fighting water under and around the house the last few days. Hope to get that under control with some perimeter drains over the next few weeks.

Anyway, lemmie see if I can get a few pics uploaded.

The top section of the far gable is what they lack finishing all the siding.

Here is what the GC calls a "splash coat", basically all the vertical exterior walls got a coat of this and then Bart on top of that.

It is crazy quite up stairs with all the insulation in. R38 in all ceilings, R13 with splash in all 4" vertical exterior walls (hoping for R15-17 with the splash), garage getting R19 batt by itself. All windows are low-E, should be about as tight as we can get it.

We spent several hours out there yesterday watching it rain. My little awake I pulled catches a lot of the upland flow, still got a good bit around the foundation and gonna have to get some drain piping in to help keep the water from sitting against the block.

My folks came up today for the tour and while they were here I finally fired up the MF and drove it down and parked it under the shed out of the rain. Now we just have a couple rigs left in the weather. Is it bad that I'm already contemplating the next shed to put stuff under....

Tried out the new forks today. Got a feeling these are gonna get a lot of use.

Got this stick of 18" culvert that we plan to use to cross the little creek going over to the back 40.
