Finally I can say we leave within a week, will travel close to the border of Algeria so French, Spanish and Arabic, formidable!

Thanks again @dkyuss, the tranfercase is something magical but reading these settings is good to know, maybe sometime I will take it apart but there is no play at the transfercase side and a little bit of play at the diff side.

So the bolts and nuts were shaken in a mix of diesel and gasoline and came out clean.

The magnet helps getting them out of the jar.

Time to test drive, everything seems fine, did some 4x4 low driving also to heat up and burp the cooling system. Checked transfer and gear box oil and is topped and clean, will not replace.
Added 14,5 liters of coolant and the overflow does not need more and stays at max after a few cooling down and starting times.

So after this I discovered that the front propeller shaft is mounted wrong way round...:slap:
The side that is movable (sleeve yoke spline) is at the transfer case and should be next to the diff, but the rear shaft is normally mounted next to the transfer and not at the diff in the FSM.
So maybe it does not matter? never saw it was wrong and stupidly put it back as it was.
There are no marks so no idea how it should be aligned.
And the wrench #14 metric to fasten the shaft bolts is not easy because the nut has no room for a decent torque wrench socket.

Start traveling next week 10/3 about 7000 total kilometers to Morocco Sahara and busy with work/training :hmm::wrench:
yeah, get under there again :D:cool::cookie:
EDIT:  no problem! Drive shaft on backwards.... good, bad or new mod?

Also connected a dash anti theft switch that makes the engine stop after 5 seconds :flipoff2:

So, I am a big fan of the old MadMax 1 movie and 30 years ago somehow it was advertised that part of the desert scenes were filmed in Spain.

A few weeks ago I finally had my plan to visit in order and found out they never filmed any max there.

But the destination was set to the Sahara so sand it would be, plenty of it.

When the Suzuki gsx-r was new I took a engine and build it in a 1100efe madmax style: guaranteed police chases and fun :hmm:

This is how I left and returned almost 8000km later, no problems.

Main reason was to collect some original WWII metal sand ladders (Marsden Matting, PSP or PAP), needed them on the beach in France near Bordeaux, got stuck to axle...
Sand ladders are now my #1 recovery tool, these ones are probably to heavy but work really well:
