Preparing for Next week: a trip to Berlin, going to visit many military abandoned sites:

Field Station Berlin - Teufelsberg

lichen army base: 15000 soldiers, nucleair, 53.0336,13.3908 Unnamed Rd 16792 Zehdenick Germany

Ask1.org - Diskussion : Vergessene Orte (war: Bunkerimpressionen) - Topic4069

One of three troposphere bunkers: Stillstand

wollenberg sternkrug 4, Koordinaten: 52° 44′ 29″ N, 13° 57′ 43″ O |

An abandoned mental hospital: Sülzhayn, 99755 Ellrich, Steierberg

Just wow.... So envious. I can drive for hours (don't get met wrong, its beautiful in its own way, and why I love living here....) and not see another soul, let alone town or historic anything. The oldest buildings in western north America top at 150 years, and they are rare and usually 'wooden shacks'. No castles, or memorials or anything of great historic relevance.

The abandoned areas mostly are in forests and nobody around so I love it there, the Netherlands is the most populated area in Europe.
So we moved to the German border where my wife was born.

@dkyuss Don't you find abandoned planes&helicopters in the woods? :hillbilly: there must be some nuclear missile silos near the Canadian border.

After this picture we left the city to visit NSA Field Station Teufelsberg, an abandoned radio station that is completly trashed and aldo it was bought by investors to build a hotel it was just destroyed.
Now it is squatted and we had to go trough the fence and avoid a fight :meh: : move unseen.

(If I ever go to the USA again I have to remind the no trespassing and gun laws :D )

We parked the HJ next to the fence and after a complete inspection of the fence and possibilities to get trough moved to the big staircase that goes up to the big radomes.
Most doors were locked or welded shut but some were open and after some puzzling, hiding and trying not to fall down a few stories we made it to the roof next to the domes.

Best view over Berlin at night, very impressive and I would have liked to go trough all the building but there were to many guards/people and we made it out fine but had to do some "jogging" at some point :flush:

The top dome has one open spot that is very high above the ground so that was scary to lean over, also the sound in there is spooky.

The Snorkel drains water like it should, drove trough a lot of rain: more than 400 km trough heavy rain without problems.
This is after the rain starts:

Another abandoned military base, this one is the second largest from the Russians in Europe, the other one is a guided museum, maybe next time but guides and rules :crybaby:

The link show the house:

Many barracks, a lot of empty stuff, one underground bunker (with bats, heavily protected, endangered species)

Hero for some, this was after WWII and two huge Russian bases near the border must have stirred the poo.

Another abandoned Russian city in Germany, some is now repaired and for sale, most of it is abandoned:

We found the huge nuclear truck missile storage and entered it with some "work" and a ladder we found a few kilometers away, These bunkers are inaccessible until we arrive :poof:
Very nice to be in a top secret place, all missile parking hill locations were pointed to Berlin west.

Funny, building caving in, not the best shelter, climbing trough the stairway was interesting :skull: gotta talk to the landlord :)

Next trip is Morocco in two weeks, so replaced the water hoses, not a nice thing to fix when traveling:

The radiator water drain is plastic and last time was about 4 years ago but no problem:

file.php

I think the cooling liquid is to old to reuse, I have 15 liters new:

file.php

Nice fight to get the old hoses off, did not want to damage them and will use as spare.
