Hey Dave...you skip the weigh in?

I'm not doing so well...will have to regroup soon

Well, the scale is finally going the way I want it, and I am once again back on track :)

How did you do Dave?

After missing last week, I was down 2.4 this weigh-in, hit my -5%, total of 22.4 down. Wish I'd done better seeing as that was 2 weeks but I won't complain, slow but steady.

Hoping with the extra daylight next week I can ramp up the exercise. Got out a few times last week for long walks, need to keep that up.

Still shooting for -50 by FG.

TIP <> A spoon full of maple syrup before serving the squash or some brown sugar while the squash is cooking adds a lot of flavor without any fat and only a few extra calories ;>)

I've fought the calories most of my life. Born on a farm and the typical diet was homemade butter, pies, dairy, meat, you name it. Trouble is, I was the youngest of the family and never got to the point of doing much farm work which burned off a lot of those bad calories and left the rest of the family relatively slim. The lesson learned is that we can unknowingly pass on bad eating habits to our kids.

Now that I have heart disease and the open heart surgery in '07, I have to really avoid the fat consumption. The good news is that my bad (LDL) cholesterol is down from a high of 187 to 92. All thanks to the drug company and a bit of effort on my part to limit saturated fat intake to 10 grams or less per day and pushing myself away from the computer periodically to get into a regular exercise program. If you think it is easy not to eat 10 grams of saturated fat, consider that is the amount in about 4 OZ of red meat or an ounce or 2 of cheese.

A recent government study recommends that overweight people eat less to lose weight or exercise more to make up for excess caloric intake. Wow, glad my tax dollars paid for that!

It ain't easy boys and girls. Our lifestyles are our biggest enemies along with genetics. Kudos to those who keep bucking the trends!

Maybe this thread should be called I hate salad (without tasty dressing) and/or raw fruits and veggies 5 times a day ;>)

Hey Dave, how did it go last night?

I'm not losing, but at least I stopped gaining

My meeting dates have been all off since I've missed work the last few Mondays. I'm going to the Wed. 6:30 pm meeting this week. (tomorrow)

I'll be happy to re-lose the 1.4 I gained last week. I've bee eating right and exercising so I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Good week this week, -2.8 which makes up nicely for last week's small gain. Total 23.8 down. Hopefully will increase the week-to-week pace now that the days are longer and I'm fitting in more exercise.

Not bad considering I had a small piece of birthday cake at work this afternoon.

It's been nice to pull out my summer clothes (wore shorts a few times this week) and have them fit nicely.... they were bordering on way-to-tight when I put them away in the fall.

Have you thought about doing colonics?? I know people that have lost 10 lbs within a very short time due to freeing up the impacted "stuff" in the intestine. Not really cheating since it's just clogging things up. Supposedly it improves health as well according to some infomercials.

Somehow all my conversations lead to poop.

On another note, I stepped on a scale and it read 234 lbs. Gained about 15 lbs this winter. Bought new running shoes yesterday and walked 3 miles this morning.

It's basically like pipes in your house. No matter how much drain-o you put down there the pipes never really get clean

MMMMMMMMMMMM BEER! The last time I quit drinkin', I lost 10% of my body weight in 3 months and my waist size went from 40" to 36". Sadly, its still MMMMMMMMMMMM BEER! for me and am back to 42" in spite of working out 3 times a week and eating better. MMMMMMMMMMMMM BEER!

Curious how weigh-in is going to go tonight. Short week (I weighed in late Wed. last week) but I've been eating right and exercising a LOT, my legs are in a permanent state of sore.

Hope your week was better than mine. Had a birthday part to go to yesterday.......and let's just say, I lost my self control, but man the food was good!!!
