They are estimates from the people that built the site. They are trying to make the site so it will have accurate prices at some point. I think it's more of a guide for when you call the dealers so they don't search for part numbers forever.

I have been using the TOYODIY for a few months and have never found a discrepancy. Nice resource for selling parts to get the correct nomenclature for the description. You can even save the parts drawings as jpegs and print them out or include them in posts. I like that I can look up stuff for the HJ. That's where I discovered there was an actual diesel emblem on the rear. Still trying to find one though.

Mebbe I'm an idjiot but I can't find the license plate lamp trim piece or the washer pump for an 85 FJ60 on this site. Just two things that are near and dear to me that I thought I'd check out...

Dropped off my Cadillac seats that I sold on eBay to a guy in Upton,MA about 30 mins away. had a beer or two with him afterwards.

he got called back again from the reserves to full time at Ft Devens. His job is to notify widows that their husbands were killed in Iraq or wherever. Holy s*** is all I have to say. I thought my job was stressful! One woman in MA got knocked up by another GI here in MA and had her husband killed in Iraq to cover it up. Guy was shot in the head with an M-16. She tried collecting the checks then she got arrested.

Aside from that his job is what you'd expect. he says he does one a month on average. He has his office number programmed in as "Holy s***" on his cell phone caller ID when he gets the call for a notification. he has 4 hrs from that point to notify the family.

I am officially going to stop bitching about everything for as long as possible. Puts s*** in perspective quickly.

Nice guy. He's putting the Caddy seats in a very nice Scout with 42K original miles. He's a flipper and a schemer just like me!

I have received the training for doing that same function, only for Navy personnel. You are basically on call to the family to assist with everything starting with initial notification to the funeral. Sorting out body delivery, life insurance, paperwork, and other benefits for the family. I haven't had to do this yet, but I am only second down on the list to cover VT, NH, and ME. Not two many Navy losses, but mostly SEALS, or corpman are at risk. Cant imagine doing this full-time.

He said he's the notification officer and the assistant notification officer handles the aftermath. He only spend an hour at the home doing the notification. The military says the hour is more than enough mental strain.

Thoughts of selling the Pumpkin have seeped into my head. Bull is selling his BJ70 that is in sweet condition and could easily be a daily driver. https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-trailers-sale-wanted/260297-bj70-sale-trade.html Has plenty of goodies on it too. Very capable wheeler and great gas mileage to boot. 33mpg vs 9mpg.

Issue is that if I buy it I won't be able to fit that and the pumpkin in the garage. Also not sure I could afford to own both.

I do have a 1980 BJ40 coming from AU which is essentially paid for and would fit in the garage with the 70. The 40 has a new B engine and a brand new 5 speed with LX axles.

Essentially I'd be sacrificing the super coolness of the pumpkin for something I can drive every day. Still really wanna keep the pumpkin though.

Aside from the millions of "Flipper" comments I'm about to get (which I am fully immune to) what do you guys think?? I've been obsessing for days with no results.

wiat until you get the 40 from Oz and make sure you are going to like driving it. and looking at it. the pumkin is a hard vehicle to get make sure the sellers remorse is not going to kill you.

What does it matter?? Eventually I'll own your sweet azz LV! :flipoff2:

Was thinking of doing a round on eBay with a stupidly high reserve to see what it would get. No idea what it's really worth in today's economy.

BJ40 and BJ70 (already built) in exchange for selling the pumpkin. Go for it.

Just my opinion here, but if you are basically looking to keep 2 of the 3, I say keep the pumpkin and get the 70. You can dd the 70 as you say and build the pumpkin as money makes itself available. I realize "long term project" hasn't quite found itself into the flipper dictionary, but.... It is a cool ride, and not too easily found in the condition you have have. The 40 is sweet too, its just why waste the garage space on 2 dd's when you can have the super cool dd and the super cool toy. I would also bet that the flipper would end up selling the 40 within a few months of driving a 70 around, and you'd still be pumkinless. Just my opinion, nothing more! I don't think you will lose out no mater what decision you make.

Oh, if you plan to paint the 70 pumpkin I will let Bull know so it is never sold to you....

OK, I just read his build up thread... that rig is fantastic... if I had the means I would be all over it.

I don't have the means at the moment but the Pumpkin will take care of that.

John- biggest problem is I can't fit the 70 and the 45 in the garage end to end. The 40 will fit easily. The 40 would be the fun, beater rig and more of a summer runner with the top off. 70 will be rustproofed to hell and driven year round.

70 needs some work so not like I'm not going to get to keep tinkering!

If the pumpkin sells for decent $$$ I'm considering buying Kina's 70 too as a parts rig.

If I wait until the 40 arrives in Feb/March, title it, then sell it, odds are that the 70 will be long gone by then.

I would keep the 70 as is. If I did paint it, definitely NOT pumpkin.
