Agreed, the host is a tool, one catchphrase after another. I do enjoy the show though. :)

so I am driving the girls (2 x 4.5) home in the fj62 when a silver fj60 with 3 blonde girls fresh from the beach tracks me down and pulls up next to me to ask me about my cruiser. dboy did I feel cool . it was quickly shattered when my daughter Olivia said " Daddy why did those girls in there bathing suits talk to you?" I said because they liked my car"
"well daddy your car is dirty so those couldn't have been very nice girls" oh life

Nice Jason! Still getting some hot Cruiser action

Blizzard vanished to Chicago today but I'm getting a hot BJ from SC tomorrow. I'll post pics when it shows up. Gonna drive the BJ while I fix the crew cab or until the BJ sells.

dreamin'

My friend from high school emails me this link this morning:
Africa Blog Blog Archive On the Great North Road into forgotten Kenya | Blogs | Reuters.com

He is a writer for Reuters living in Nairobi. He owns a Land Rover, obviously we spar over who has a better truck.

But it got me thinking. If I sent him money and he bought a truck and registered it in his name. Then insured it so that it could be driven in the US and I was on the insurance. Could we have it shipped here so that I could drive it here?

It is not exactly legal but it could be done right? I seem to remember there was a guy that wrote about a canadian mining truck that he did this with from Canada.

What do you think?

At least dreaming about it is fun!

Is there an issue with getting a truck out of Africa that you don't already own? My gut tells me there are a lot of things that could go wrong with that and I'm not sure an insurance company would cover a truck that isn't in the USA. Finding a reliable shipping port that takes cars will be tough since there isn't a lot of import/export with Nairobi or surrounding countries. Sounds possible but also sounds like a logistical nightmare.

As far as my shizz goes, yesterday I painted the BJ40 blindfolded, ninja-style, 2 cans spraying at once, and without taping it off. Came out great. $12 paint job. Trading it to a guy in PA for a 1965 convertible mustang in much better condition. He's moving to Nevis and needs a diesel 4x4. I outbid him on it so he knows the truck and saw it before I painted it. I'm getting a much better deal than him and he knows this but is fine with it. In fact he's been begging me to trade for a month now. Gonna sell the mustang and dump all that money into the crew cab (new engine, wheels, tires, AC, PS, discs, etc)

Due to the economy, my flipping days aren't over but I'm going on sabbatical for a while. Flipping anything today is financial suicide.

what is the most recent year that can be legally imported into the USA? 1987?

I think its 1983 (25 years) but flipper will know.

what are you looking for a 70 or 40 series? a 70 sereis would be fun I can't wait until those start coming over.

I ordered a new fuel pump for the lv in that i had the lv running for about 20 total minutes or so and then it would not run. so the issue was traced to the fuel pump. I took it off and looking at SOR's site saw that i should have a spacer so I ordered a spacer and a new pump just in case. well they came yesterday and when I compared them I first thought that the new pump must be wrong cause the arm was too long. then I noticed that the one that had 20 minutes of use on it had a broken arm. then I realized that the broken arm is in the bottom of my oil pan. d'oh!!!

so I got the new pump and spacer on last night cleaned up the top end of the engine and pulled the plug on the oil and plan to drop the Pan 9for the 3rd time) tomorrow morning.

but i did also get all the factory harness side plugs and pig tails for my wiring adventrure. so I am making progress...
