Mouse kabobs for dinner?

Is that a 45?

I'm catching at least 2 mice every day in the cellar and the garage. It must be the cooler weather attracting them into warmer accommodations. I wish I could trap them all alive and put a mouse cage blower in the 40 ;>)

yes that is pretty much the jest of it. They have a period of time to nest and those who don't die, those who do don't move.

I'll keep the traps out but I doubt I'll catch any more.

Ok thanks.

I have had 2 people tell me to use a five gallon pail half full of water with a ramp up to the edge. Then put in enough sunflower seeds to cover the water from view. Rodents jump in and can't jump out. From what I'm told, you will probably catch all the mice and chipmunks you can eat. I'm not sure if they die from heart attacks from all that swimming or just drowning. I suppose you could do an autopsy to see if they have water in their lungs or not. It is a lot crueler than the live traps I use on the chippies that I put into the chipmunk relocation program. I go at least a mile to be sure they don't find their way back. They like the cemetery as there are rock walls and oak trees. (Chipmunk infestations make great gifts for people you don't like. Just keep dropping them off at their house. They reproduce almost as fast as mice.)

I'm still averaging 2 mice a day in the cellar and garage. I have to wire the traps to a metal plate or a solid object because something occasionally will haul off the trap with the dead mouse in it.

I just wish I could find a way to catch the squirrels in the attic.

I had a house full of smoke one day last summer, so bad I called the fire department. Turns out the furnace (boiler) was back firing out the front. When the repair man came, he found the inside of it at the top was stuffed with insulation, etc, that the mice were using for nesting. Apparently some of it finally fell far enough in to plug the flu up completely. Mice must like it very warm. We had wondered for awhile what that odd odor was in the cellar ;>)

I'm gettin the urge to buy some traps and do some huntin!

Lane,

If you do take up mousing, I recommend the Victor plastic traps that I bought at Tractor Supply which are probably available elsewhere. I have tried a variety of traps and these are the best. I tried the little plastic square tube live traps with a trap door and they either get out or die from trauma at least 1/2 the time. The plastic Victor's cost a bit more than the wooden ones, however, they have a second loop to set the trap and release the mouse so you don't have to touch the mouse or the part that touches the mouse. Plus the bait tab is a little well instead of a tab.

I fill mine with peanut butter (natural of course) and a bit of a bird seed or sunflower seeds. Unlike the traps with tabs, I can catch 2-3 mice before having to refill the well because the dead mouse covers the well and keeps other mice from capitalizing on the dead mouse's misfortune.

Does anyone know why mice mice are cannibals? I often find a mouse in my trap that has been chewed on by one of his mates or competitors. Are mice territorial and does one species feed on the other when they have the chance?

It's all simple science, but I still need some tips on getting the gray squirrels out of the attic. :crybaby:

BTW, I understand the ***awi tribe originally became lost while hunting mice for the tribe's favorite delicacy, mouse brains.

Life is sorta sucking the life out of fun at this point. Reality check is that the 55 has to go. Hopefully the recent repairs will make it easier to sell.

And we're up to seven mice. On the up side, made rear drum brake lines tonight with new SOR 9mm nuts. Whee. No I have to wait for another axle seal and then I can button it all up.

Only one trapped mouse today and an unsprung trap licked clean. I did catch a chippy in one of the live traps and he should be happy with his new identity and location. Plus, not having Harry (the dog) harassing him while he was in the cage made the chipness protection program more palatable than the alternative - catch & release followed by catch & kill.

Anyone have a big cat they can rent out to catch the squirrels in my attic?

The good news is that your daughter's free meal will bring them back for more and shazam!!!

Bump on renting a cat.

Do mice float in beer or sink?
