SATURDAY 10/30 TRAILRIDE.

The unofficial YT alternate to the hardcore run is now going to be on Saturday in Central NH. It is open to stockers on up and will be a fun exploration of Class VI roads and some harder stuff. We have 3 trucks to go at this point and can take on a few more. The meeting time and place is 10 AM at Exit 2 off I-89 in Concord, NH. Bring a lunch, friend, wife, kids and camera. PM me for details and signup.

We now have 3 trucks going. Anyone else?

Spent the last 3 weekends cooking for the big Turkey Dinners our church does. Served more then 300 people a night, it's our biggest fundraiser of the year. So exhausted though. It was fun to step back into my food service days (something I did for 8 years) but it's also a nice reminder of why I went to school to get out of that business. ;)

Yeah. Getting hungry!

12-14 Turkeys, 100lbs of potatoes, 100lbs of squash, plus stuffing, gravy, cole slaw and 35-50 pies. All from scratch. A lot of work but a lot of money raised at $10 a head. It's our largest annual fundraiser.

We do it all again for real-Thanksgiving, for free for the less fortunate in the community. I understand they generally serve about 100-150 that day.

Pub Night

Anyone up for a pub night at John Harvard's in Natick?

Leaving for 3 days of camping. Plan to get some hiking in and maybe knock off
another 4000 footer. Won't have to worry about bugs!

Where you headded Lane?

Speaking of bugs I found a deer tick crawling on me yesterday. Aren't these things dead yet?

We went up to Franconia Notch and stayed at the Lafayette campground. We were the only ones there. Was raining and very windy when we got there Tuesday. Set up camp and got a fire going. Pretty cold and we were in the 80 at 6:60 in our sleeping bags. Read books until about 7:30 then went to sleep. Nice and sunny but still very windy Wed. morning.
Decided a hike up to the Lonesome Lake Hut was going to be the plan for the day.
The AMC was restocking the hut so we could see the chopper shuttling loads up there.

Spent about 45 minutes at the hut then came down. Drove into Lincoln for lunch and stopped at 5 restuarants before we found one open. (the place was dead) Moved on to Hancock campground on the Kangcamaugus for night 2. Set up again, went for a nice walk along the river. Good campfire, Bette cooked up some garlic, onions and scallops with a bit of pesto and we ate, drank some wine then back into the 80 for some more reading and snoozing.
