Opps, my bad - 426D it is ... :D

Sometimes I confuse the flock:

Nice military there in the back. If you don't want it, let me know.

I don't know my 426s, but I thought with that grate it's a "G"

Stamped "426D" on the front, but dunno ...

That Vietnam-era lantern is a keeper - never been fired :D And came with extra glass quadrants and generators.

Just an FYI - don't ever buy a Petromax, no matter how cool looking... It'll end up as just an expensive chandelier .

Added a couple items this summer. Here is my current collection.

Hello, my name is Kevin and I am a Coleman-aholic.

After posting yesterday I found myself online browsing and I couldn't help but buy myself a 431 from 79. The three burner units just take up too much space. This one was listed locally by the same guy I got the cooler from last year and was 5 minutes away. Slightly used with the box. This will be the unit I build my "kitchen" around for the BJ42.

Super cool Canadian stove. The US equivalent is a 425. I'm guessing, it's great.

Nice stuff, there...

Neat stove ... I like those 'wind-proof' holder thingys for the side curtains. So what makes it an "easy lite"?

And there is no cure for this disease...

Marketing. They put that on a lot of lanterns and stoves up here. I really don't think there is any difference.

Major score today. Pics later. Got a L427 in the original box, with an original spare generator also in a cool original box. And the coolest part--it came with a spare external pump.

Build date.......July 1925.

Looks like:

Major score! That is a beautiful lantern... You going to fire it? ;)

Absolutely. It's not unfired. But it's also #3 on the project list. Maybe in a month or so. I need a few parts like a pump gasket to really dive into it.

Got a 200A from my birthday month/year that's next up on the full rebuild, strip and repaint.

Hope Moab was a good time!

With regards to the military coleman on pg 16, I may or may not have posted it, but I went to a local pawn shop last year and bought my dad a military Coleman for $25. It was original paint and glass, it had the spare parts kit with mantles and no rust. He has another for $25 in a little less nice shape, but it's complete as well. My dad's has all the stickers. The one still at the shop has damaged decals on it.

I went to a different pawn shop about a month ago and bought a dual fuel two burner stove for $45. I was excited and feeling like I got a decent deal on it. It still had gas in it. It looked to have been lit once, and it looked like the single match to light it was in the bottom of it. Shortly afterwards, my son and I went to a local Coleman Outlet, and they had a dozen new in box dual fuel stove for ... yep $45. So at least I got mine with no tax and some free gas.

Unless the old leather pump gasket is rotted away, you can likely revive it with some oil or grease.

Rebuild

Thought I'd post up my 3/59 228E. I built it from just the tank (fount) getting parts here and there. I have $16 into it so far.

The 228s differ from the standard 220s 2 burners in that they have a "big hat" and spread the light below, so they are ideal for mounting up high. If you notice, the hat or vent is pocelained white on the bottom to aid distributing the light.

On this one I stripped all the metal, repainted, with new decal. Runs like new. They are like Cruisers in that you can basiclly rebuild them again and again with essentially no wear in the parts. It's usually a matter of cleaning out gunk.

While this is sort of true, the ideal rejuvenation fluid is Neatsfoot Oil. If the leather is not rotted, a 24 hour soak in Neatsfoot makes the leather pliable and ready to seal up again. If you use motor oil, you actually accelerate the rotting of the leather.

The 228E was my favorite lantern, until I bought one of the new Northstars ...

That's a beautiful specimen.

It's not old, but a new dual-fuel 285A is still pretty cool in my book:

My buddy has one of those that we use occasionally, but I've never thought to see if they stamped the date on the bottom.

Its funny actually. We use my 49 yo more than the 2 yo one!
Respect your elders!:flipoff2:

Drew, that's a pretty badass lamp! Where do you find all of these antiques?

Couple of others: 1959 200A (as found, not restored)

Double bonus for proper ID here:

The weird lighting makes the fount look blue, It's actually Sea Foam green, it's made by Coleman, and not in the USA. All the parts other than the vent are made of brass, even the fount. Its from July, Aug, Sept 1946, ie C 46. Coolerman will know this one.
