So I like it, and had a similar idea myself. My friend who is not into trucks or camping or overlanding just had a baby and showed up at my house with these:

Fun oil change today, first I noticed drivers side ball joint was bad ( ordered new ones from rock auto ) I didn’t want to order from there but Covid has funds low.

Secondly I was missing a bolt and spacer from the engine skid plate, seems it was stripped out 8mm / 1.25 Drilled it out and tapped it to 10mm / 1.50

Then made a new spacer out of a couple solid spacers I had laying around they just needed ground down a little.

Skids back on, I really like the 10mm bolts they drilled and taped just fine.
Hopefully they’ll be harder to mess up.

Now just waiting on the lower A-arms.(Tuesday)

Nice. I retapped my skid mount to 10mm too recently. Darn mechanics with torque wrenches stripped them out. Last oil.change I requested they use hand tools to tighten skid plate. (Deal too good for me to do it myself )
