You've never worked on a transversely mounted front wheel drive V6 domestic, have you?;)

These are easy to work on. Don't get too frustrated just learn and work through each problem you come across. You and your truck will grow to become one :D

Now quit messing around and get started on your SOA!

Second Edit: I think I may have been right the first time... The 3FE is an inline 6 not a v6, am I right? And my land cruiser is rear wheel drive...

But now I get the feeling you meant an entirely different vehicle than a land cruiser so I'm gonna remove my foot from my mouth!

But yea, I already know more than I did this time last year when I started lurking around these forums! I owe it all to you guys! Everything I have done to my cruiser has been inspired by all of you! I keep her in the best running condition possible all because you guys help fuel my obsession! I drove my truck for almost a year before finding this website, I'm glad I found it when I did! I am finally getting to the actual "modding" of my cruiser and doing some custom things and making it mine!

 No, I was referencing a different car, something along the lines of a mid-90's GM sedan, like a V6 Lumina. For example, to change the rear spark plugs on that car, you have to remove the upper motor mount and rotate the entire motor + transaxle forward 30*!! Working on these old trucks is certainly easier than a lot of cars. That's the only point I was trying to make ;)

Your LC is a fuel injected, 4 liter inline 6 with an automatic transmission and part-time 4WD. Mine, for example, is a 4.2 liter carbureted inline 6 with a 5 speed manual transmission and part-time 4WD.

I completely understand what you're talking about with just getting into these trucks. I remember when I got my first 60, it was also red, but a giant rust bucket that didn't run. My initiation was rebuilding the carb and manifolds, coming from not even owning a ratchet set! That was quite the adventure, and very frustrating at times, but I ended up with a great running 60 that I loved driving.

It sounds like you've got a real good passion for your cruiser already and I'm glad, because it looks like you're taking good care of her. Stick with it, through the frustrating repairs and expensive mistakes. She'll reward you in the end.

Just remember, we're all watching, ready to lend a hand when needed:cheers:

I was just going to say "you've never changed the spark plugs on a Subaru Outback, have you?"

To the OP: That 62 is gorgeous. I've never really liked red cars before (too flashy) but I keep seeing clean red cruisers like yours and am considering changing my mind on what color to paint my 62.

I just got my 62 last September and it's been one of the most rewarding learning experiences I've had. So many cool things going on, even with regular maintenance.

Keep up the good work. I've been working on getting my wife's Subaru up on maintenance recently and I can tell you this: just be glad that the people who designed the engine compartment for Subaru were not the same people who designed the Land Cruiser. :flipoff2::steer:

Lol yea I guess they aren't that bad! I'm actually in the process of coming up with "OEM" winch controls right now... I will repurpose a hazard switch (from an 80 possibly) and a 62s rear wiper switch and it will give me a winch power and a winch control! It's still in the working stages of an idea right now, and since the remotes are 12v I don't have to worry about the switches holding to much power anyway! It will be really easy if the badlands winch has a 3 prong connector on the remote (Which I remember reading somewhere now but can't find the link ) if it has 4 or more... Then I run into trouble... But anywho... I'm just gonna have to wait till Sunday when I go to get the winch!!

Ok guys it's sunday!! as promised here are some pictures of my winch

I can't give much of an update, my grandfather is in the hospital :/ everything is fine he just had an enlarged prostate and got a urinary tract infection from the blockage... a good dose of antibiotics and he will be fine! I'll write a good update on everything tomorrow!

I finally got sick of that perfectly nice bumper and 12,000lb winch just sitting in my room and not on my land cruiser... so I woke up wednesday morning and decided that was the day! So I took that bumper down to the yard and started the process of cleaning her up!

it was pretty dirty with some grime and some surface rust, but a little CLR and a wire brush and some elbow grease took care of that :D so anywho I took it down to a garage the handles most of my fathers car "enhancements" haha and I got him to cut the old horn mounts off the frame!

From there i just needed to get that nice tow hook off the frame and relocate it on top of my bumper and then put it on! that was around 4:00, and wouldn't you know my :princess: calls and wants me to eat dinner with her before she goes to work... a short dinner later and I'm losing daylight but I am hell bent on having this winch on before bed come hell or high water!

So I call my buddy because I'm gonna need a hand putting it on and he is at work till 8 but we can handle it at his house... so I roll on down to him (he works with me at the tanning bed) and we chill at work and then get cracking...

we tried and tried and tried but the bolts on that hook would not budge... after a drill and a tiger saw.. I said screw it.. I'm just dowsing this :censor: with WD40 and torquing the ever living :censor: out of it! We finally got the bottom of the 3 out and then rounded the top one.. had to slam a smaller wrench on to it to get it off, the last one would not budge at all so I got pissed and kicked it the hook and it pivoted on the back bolt... so here came the WD40 and we just kicked it back and forth spraying WD40 until it loosened the bolt enough to torque it off with a wrench! SUCCESS!!!

thats my buddy trying to torque off the bolts!! Notice the head lamps.. because it was 11:00....

but the spoils of war are now mine!! her she is at 12:15 getting ready for the first pull!!

Yea man! I sent an email to the guy casting me a new switch this afternoon but haven't heard back yet! I have an idea that will make it pretty easy... Fingers crossed it works!!

Hey thanks Irish! I was just about to send you a PM I'm glad I could take this bumper and give it a new life ;) other than the scrap heap! I'm going to build something similar to what YUP YUP had on it when you bought it... But the more I start thinking through designs the more I start designing bigger haha!! I have to do something to mount my fairlead and maybe some lights... And not be just a damage multiplier

Do you guys think I could get 8000$ for this cruiser??is $9k too much to start out asking? What do you all think?

Mines on Craigslist for 6000 right now and hasn't sold yet I think it depends on how long your willing to wait for the right person
