I want a flashlight that I can securely mount with quickfists inside the cab. Ideally it would be plugged in and always charged up. What are some good ones?

I like the Mag light rechargeable, but it seems like it needs that holder to charge and I am not sure how secure it is. One of the Streamlight ones is nicve, but I have the same worries.

Any suggestions?

I have a rechargeable maglite. The holder clamps it very firmly; it will not fall out and is very unlikely to be accidently knocked out.

I don't have mine mounted in my Cruiser. If you mount it in your Cruiser, you will want to pick a very solid mounting location; you put a good amount of torque on the mount when removing the maglite from the holder.

There is about 1/16" play lengthwise when the maglite is in the holder; I don't think that it would move about if mounted horizontally; it might move if mounted vertically.

The holder to mount connection is quite loose and would rattle, but it looks like one could glue in a small piece of rubber to take the play out of the connection and prevent rattle or bend the mounting tabs to make a tighter fit.

G'luck, -Steve

I've been very happy with my Inova T4's. I have for one the garage and one at work. It's plenty bright recharges quickly and has a decent run time. Neither is setup in my rig but it does come with a nice charging block and 12v pigtail.

Thanks!!! That is great info, I appreciate it

I use a Streamlight model SL30XLED (I believe it's call). It has a regular halogen light in it and also several high-intensity LEDs to cut down on power consumption. The charger holds it very securely.

The customer service at Streamlight is second to none.

I had been leaning towards streamlight.............that is great to know.

Don't get Streamlight....'im tellin' yall. I get them FREE and hate them.
I have compared them to several and the charge lasts 30 minutes.
I prefer the SUREFIRE brand that are battery operated. Why? because I KNOW they an hour and I don't have to worry about the "charge" going out on the Streamlight in a half hour. If you need a flashlight to work on your truck on the side of the road and your miles from home...get the battery operated surefire and carry spares...once your Streamlight goes out....your done.

Check out the other reviews. This web site is only one of many that reviews flashlights. There are a lot of folks out there that are nuts about flashlights just like we are about Toyota products.

I agree with Airlaird in regards to SureFire products. Unless you have extra $$ to purchase 3V batteries on a regular basis find a decent rechargeable as you originally intended. In this day and age I wouldn't even consider a flashlight that uses NiCad batteries, Lipo or NiMH are light years ahead and have no issues with cell memory.

I have several streamlites and love them. One is 10 years + old and still holds a charge. I can get an hour out of mine easy and several time duck hunting have droped it in the water and it never slowed down. The hp stinger light increadible. I would buy more if I needed more. Dont know about the new real small versions. ALl of mine are the singer version.

I have a streamlight rechargeable (about seven inches long) plugged inside the center cubby. It works very nice for the size.

Streamlights are good no doubt....I keep 2 charged up and they just don't keep the charge long enough. But for a half hour to 40 minutes they're great. It's just my opinion and I used them daily...until I got a battery operated Surefire

I ended up with a Streamlight, it should mount in my center console nicely. Thanks for all the opinions

Moses,

We use those lights and they are great, like the versatility of the adjustable head but the recharge time is outrageous. Don't get me wroing they do last a long long time but when they are dead it takes a long long time to refresh. Also they are pretty heavy compared to the others being talk about here. My .02

Hmm, didn't know about recharge time. Knew it was overkill but wanted to throw it out there anyway.

Stay safe...

I run the Streamlight Vulcan in all my rides have found them to be tough, versatile and very reliable....Since I carry several different light sources (Pitzel headlamps, surefire 3P, assorted laterns and 12v LEDS) I've never run out of light due to battery failure. The Vulcans have seen every kind of weather condition and beaten to heck and have never even broken a bulb.

Surefire are great tactical lights but will become very expensive to run for long periods of time and next to impossible to find a 3v battery at a mountain gas station in the middle of Co.

Good luck with whatever one you choose, just remember to excercise the batteries from time to time so they don't get a memory.
