No one knows that better than Porsche and the 24 variants of the 911. All cash cows but also all very niche in volume. To say one is watered down relative to the next misses the point.

They are each developed to a different target audience. Tailored to fit whatever particular charter and niche. No single 911 would satisfy the whole spectrum of buyers. A 911 "base" comes to mind, even though it's a friggen 911! Oh, and there's very much a pecking order, to which conceited owners will thumb their noses when sizing each other up at an intersection.

Yes to this. I'm on my 5th 911 and the various options and variants are indeed mind-boggling. It would be nice if Toyota would allow some individualization for the LC. (I don't agree with the sizing up comment)

My local PCA was a lot of "sizing up." I left that group after about 2 years. There was only 1 other 993 guy and it was more about who spent the most money on xxxxx vs actually driving the cars. Seemed more like a Ferrari club.

That aside, the 300 is on my radar. My wife has completely fallen in love with my 200 and essentially stolen it from me. Looks like the daughter is going to get an 80 series when she starts driving next year. My 911 is my favorite car but the cruiser is a VERY close second for very different reasons.

Porsche really nailed this and made a huge profit in doing so. I sold my Targa 4S 997 and now am I the hunt for a C2S 991. One isn’t better than the other, they’re priced different
and an S is certainly upsized but after having an AWD S model I now want a RWD base model (granted the base 991 has the same HP as the S 997).

Porsches are very common in my area. My brief experience with the local PCA is that some members try to outdo another by getting newer/faster models. Many others seem cliquish, pretty much have to be 60 years old, male, and Caucasian to fit in. I pretty much didn't fit in.

I traded in my 996 turbo a while ago b/c my wife needed a new car. I kind of regret trading it in, and peruse used 911s time to time. Then I look at the repair and maintenance bills people are forking over on Rennlist and 6speed ($4-5k/yr, with the occasional $10k drop not uncommom) on the 996/997 turbos, and I come to my senses. I take a break, and the cycle repeats itself again. Dam P-bug.

It certainly is a stinky bug. Once you get bit you are hooked for life. No matter what you try, nothing can quite hit the spot like a 911. Not even that beauty of a 718 Cayman... Don’t ask me how I know

I too regret selling the 997 Targa. I saw it for sale in Fairfield when I was shopping for the LC. I could recognize that car from a distance. It still felt like “my car”. Now I’m back searching for a CPO 991 C2 with low miles (12K). When I find it I think It’ll be a keeper.

Interesting, around here it’s 20% white, 80% Asian.

The 60 year old white male drives the base 911.

The gt2/turbo/gt3rs are all 35-50 Asians

Ugh!
The bumper looks like it has a giant, cartoonish smile. Not what I want on a truck...

Once you see the big GRIN...you can’t NOT see it every time. Reminds me of a Mazda that had a goofy grin very similar to this. They zapped it right quick...

If that is real, then I think Toyota will be helping folks like ARB and TJM sell front bumpers.

@hamad1two3 • Instagram photos and videos always has lots of LC/LX pictures.

Lexus has sold a "S" trim in Middle East and Russian markets with bumpers and body kits that look like Pep Boys specials, alongside the standard trims. Fake vents and honeycomb grilles are the ultimate performance boosters. Not an improvement and the lower trim looks like the stick-on piece that it is.

Standard:

These have not been for the North American market and the North American 2019 LX 570 and 2019 Land Cruiser are carryovers.

Trying too hard to be something it is NOT... A fancy Ford Navigator or GMC / Caddy highway cruiser yacht... YUP, that looks like the bumper that would be able to cross a deep rocky river bed or conquer a jagged mountain trail... This 6,000 LBS fat lady is singing... Looking forward to the new 300...
Maybe some stock 24" Toyota rims will get the cruiser some mall cred...

See you at Nordstrom's,

Jeff

It would be nice if the front ends of both the 200/150 series, and follow on versions, were in two parts allowing aftermarket bumpers to be a bolt-on affair by simply unbolting the lower half. Especially the Lexus versions.

Nordstrom and Saks are where I see most of the LX/LC already, while I am in the USA. I am sure 300 series won't be any different either on this continent :)
