There are a lot of people who can afford to buy it, the question is ..... will they see $72,000 in value it. In my opinion, despite the fact it comes with a sweet engine and all kinds of tech items, seventy-two grand is a lot of money for a Toyota Land Cruiser. DDT likes it and thinks it's worth $72,000.....enjoy your purchase in good health. I don't see a seventy to eighty thousand dollar truck. In the US, they rarely advertise the TLC and it's a low-volume seller. They've now attached [what I consider] a very aggressive price-tag to it, and we're currently at $4 per gallon moving toward $5 per gallon. Big shocker....large gas-gussling vehicles are slower to sell when fuel prices head north. Coupled with a high price tag, I wonder if '08 TLC's will move at the same pace as '98 TLC's when they were introduced.
Perfectly said! Exactly on point!

I have to say to justimaginejack what was said to someone earlier: would you pay $72,000 (or $72, for that matter) for the 200's underpinnings with an Aztek body on it (even if the badge said LandCruiser)? I agree that some vehicles have to grow on you. I've seen that from my perspective more than once. I think the main hurdles to the 200 I find people expressing are: (a) "HOLY COW! $72,000 for a freakin LandCruiser?", and (b) "Man, that thing looks remarkably like a Highlander" or "What's that guy driving?" Capable, cool, reliable, etc. as these things are, for me, I think it's not so much the $72K as it is "$72K for that?"

I agree also. That may sound weird coming from someone who owns a 200 series....but it is true....

The 200 has an advantage that other vehicles in it's price class don't

have; It isn't burdened with a universally regarded brand image,

and the connotations that tend to go with it..

It's important to remember that one isn't

buying the brand, they're buying the vehicle.I relish the fact that

someone can drive a Land Cruiser, and not have assumptions made

about their financial situation...I personally destest the fact that

cars like BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, have developed a brand

image that seems to encourage others to make assumptions about

their drivers; and worse, their drivers, at times, seem to embrace

these assumptions..As a Land Cruiser driver, you get to drive a great

vehicle, and nobody judges you for it!

PKFJ, I agree, lots of people will buy the LC, because not that many people know about it. It is a low volume selling vehicle. I have heard lots of people say that they want the extras from lexus and can pay for it, but that their not "Lexus" kind of people. Either way it works out.
I am concerned with how the economy is going to be affected with the drop in the dollar. I think Toyota might have to have japan get rid of the yen if this keeps up.

For those of you who keep saying, looks like...
I have seen some really nice shots of the new LC and it is really growing on me. I hated the new camry, and now I love it. Give it some time and I think you and I will come to see the light.

On the other hand.....Sometimes that very first gut feeling you get about something is the true feeling. If you have to "give it time" all that means is that you are probably trying to convince yourself that you like it...When deep down you really don't. ;p

Quite frankly, if they had the 70 series here and priced around the price of a 4 runner or FJC, I would jump on that in a heartbeat.

I would buy a 70 series diesel in a second, if they sold them here for a reasonable price...
