I am thinking about getting the american racing mojave teflon coated wheels for my fj62. What do you guys think of these? Are they well coated and durable? What size should I get, 15 or 16? I am hoping to run 33"x12.5, so what width do I need? Also what is the bolt pattern I need? Any reccomendations on where to buy the cheapest? Sorry for the newb questions.

I got them and like them so far. I had to adjust my steering bump stops alittle cause they would hit the leaf springs at full turn. They seem to be durable. You want 15x8 if you go with a 15" diameter. 6x5.5 bolt pattern 3.75 backspacing

This place had good prices. You can search the 60 forum and find some pictures of them.

I don't have those rims but i am running 33"x12.5"s on a 15x10 rim.

-NoCalfj60 you may be rubbing because you have 3.75" backspacing I have 3.5" and have had no problems. You can buy quarter inch wheel shims for like twenty bucks then you won't have to sacrifice anymore turning radius. just a thought.

True. The backspacing is not ideal but that is the whole problem of not being able to find a good wheel to fit so this is a minor sacrifice. The turning radius is hardly affected at all and I am fine living with it.

I got the chambers ,which from what I can tell is bassically the same wheel with a different center design. The dimensions are 15x8 with 3-3/4 backspacing 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. They are to close to the tie rod ends for my comfort with out a quarter inch spacer but then the lug's don't grab enough threads with stock studs. I just run one inch spacer's on the front and call it good.Make dang sure to tighten everything up up now and again if you do go that route. If I had it to do over again I would go with steel 16 incher's with the right amount of backspacing.I do love the teflon coating though. It cleans up so easy and after a little over a year in pretty harsh environments it seems to hold up good thus far. Not to step on Nocals toes but I think you want you rim about 2 inch's narrower than the tire you're running, But an 8inch rim for 12.5 would still be ok as it would offer more protection for the rim and if you ever wanted to get a skinnier tire you could with out buying new wheels but if you think you might want to go wider, you may want to use a 10 inch rim.Maybe do a search as size and the reasons for such has been gone over many(many) times.

Heres some picts of the wheels. I can take some more pictures of the back side and such tommorow in the daytime if you want me to.

18"x8" Mojave's - 285/65/18 Toyo's for the DD. Got 'em when they first came out... 3+ years ago? I love them and still get TONS on compliments! I wouldnt recommend for off road as I have one small chip from a torque wrench?

These wheels look good!

Thanks PAFJ.
I like the way those 18's look too,not very practical for off road use as already mentioned but still, a good looking wheel. Kudos to you highcruise55 looks like you have a nice rig too. The finish on my wheels have held up pretty good,I do have a couple of nicks though.

hi, i am new to ih8mud but not to my fj62 and i saw that your fj62(HiCruise55) on 18'' wheels and i was wondering about the measure you had to take to make them fit. i am looking to put some on mine but am worried about the 4.5'' backspacing on them and the 9.5'' width. i was also wondering if the 18'' height has any problems in the wheel well. i dont mind shaving my calipers but i dont want them to rub the tire rod ends or the inner well. did you use a spacer? thanks,Cody

Question,
I am starting off with a set of 16x8's that I have right now. I am planning on picking up some 1.5" spacers.

The rims that you guys are showing appear to have some pretty hefty backspace. Am I right?

The rims that I am going to use have 5" backspace currently, but with the spacers, I would be whittling that back down to 3.5" correct?

I want to run this before I pick up some Teflon rims.

Emee

I have the Chambers on my Tacoma and have had no issues. People ask me all the time "What make are your rims?"
