Does this require Windows xp? I just ordered the cable from Amazon and have been reading that's what everyone is using with it.
I use it on Windows XP on my Mac. I use Parallels as an emulator. Tech stream software works great. XP is all I have.
I would love to use this. Ive used it before. Does he have the J2534 hardware device? I have a Kvaser memorator, but I dont remember if its j2534 compatible.

You probably know by now, but the cable does say "J2534" on it, so I am guess that means it is compatible.

Hey my 89 does have a ECU it also has a plug under the hood you jumper two pins move the shifter to drive turn the key on and off three times and it gives you a code in fast and slow flashes on the check engine light. Them look in the FSM and it tells what could possibly be wrong in twenty items or less. Sound like really high tech to me. Can't remember if you also needed to turn your head and open your mouth a certain way or if that was if your trying to catch a fish.

Same with my 89 volvo in college. Jumper two pins and write down the number of flashes and pauses, in order to get the DTC

Is the loaner available to a cruiser head from northern california like me? I'm primarily interested in finding out if the techstream s/w knows how to read the special parameters available on a FZJ80. (There aren't many, but getting access to the few that there are would be of benefit.)
I recently purchased a cable, and while I really have not messed around with installing the software yet, I have read that this version (10.xx) will not work on newer laptops, but version 9.xx will.
Can anyone confirm/enlighten?

You are welcome to borrow it. Probably cheaper just to buy (less than $20) being in CA.
FWIW - I could not get it to read anything on my 80 series.
