No point in getting it if you already tried it on your 80, although the reason you couldn't get anything to read may be because of the cable and not the Techstream software. I've noticed several of cheap eBay cables that say they do "all OBD-II protocols" when in reality several cannot handle the J1850 VPW used by the 1FZ-FE.
I'm mostly interested in finding out if Techstream knows how to perform the "active tests" described in the FSM. This includes stuff like turning on/off the circuit opening relay to energize the fuel pump and turning on/off the EGR vsv. Being able to do these things through the OBD-II port would be a big aid in troubleshooting these systems.
