Oh, I just noticed that the tires I have now are labeled as Goodyear's! Funny when I bought them they had the same name (Fierce Attitude) but were "made" by Dunlop.

Not that unusual.
When I was a kid, I bout some tires for my Camaro.
I worked at an auto repair/tire and accessory shop, so I bought the tires that we sold (sorry,, can't recall the name 40 years later) because I received a decent discount on them, and liked the look, tread design, and compound.

When I checked the DOT number and did a little digging, it turned out that the "corporate" brand was a division of Kelly Springfield, which was manufactured by Goodyear.

Speaking of which, what about the Goodyear Kevlar MT's?

You can always go to the dogs .............PITBULL ROCKERS !!

Yeah I thought about that, but I had two problems with them. One, they're just too damn wide for most 80's. You have to do a lot of cutting on the fenders to tuck them.

Two, they're not the best for rollin' down the highway at 75MPH.

I also considered some of the many surplus military tires - but that's a crap shoot. You don't know what kind of quality you're going to get. And I'd have to swap to a 16.5 rim... blah blah blah.

It really isn't easy!

Speaking of which, what about the Goodyear Kevlar MT's?

That's got a little better tread pattern than the Duratrack's, but I'm still looking at a 17" rim. If I go 17" rim, my choices open up and I don't have to settle so much. But I'm spending at least another $400-500 on rims.

Carter, That's some great info on tires you dug up.

For me if I destroy a tire on the trail and it gets replaced with a new 17" wheel and tire, running mismatched wheels/tires doesn't detract from my ugly truck.
Now it's either Swampers or replace with 17's one at a time.

It's probably not a situation you want to be in.

There's many tires with a better tread pattern than GY MTR's, but they do have good road manners and excellent tread life.

That sucks about the 15's. I have stauns for beadlocks so I add another $600 to the cost of the rims...

Anyone who's going on Sunday any good with radio (CB specifically) that could lend 10 minutes to help me with my tuning? I have a feeling it's not peak....

Also where is the place in Apopka?

There's one built in on the radio

Greetings. Cruisermatt informed me about your tech session and would like to participate.

A little about me so you're not wondering who the hell this is:
Name is Eric. Have an 1989 FJ62, H55F, Marks 2.88/.92 transfer case, locked F/R, OME lift and FJ60 front end. Have had it for 13 years personally, it's been in the family since new. Been in Jacksonville for 3 years with Navy. Was president of Rain Country Cruisers in Washington before here. One of two 60 guys who maintain thewagonway.com.

Putting in a full float rear presently, if I get it done by the weekend I'd love to come down and help/hang out.

-Eric

Eric, glad to have you if you can make it!

man oh man I want a full float.

Well, I put the KM2's on backorder. 345/75/16's.

We'll see how long it takes... hopefully sometime before May I'll be able to get them on the truck.

Discount Tire. They beat everyone's price - and they actually worked for my business too, calling all over the place trying to get me those tires.

Well, now I've done it. I just spent too much money with Slee, and now have a 4" lift kit and the part-time kit on the way.

The list of s*** I've got to do before May is daunting:

- Replace winch (9k dead, new 12k waiting)
- change to synthetic line after I figure out how much I can get on the spool
- Slee 4" kit, which consists of:
- Front Coil Springs
- Rear Coil Springs
- New Shocks
- New Steering Damper
- New Front Caster Plate Kit
- Which means I have to remove my control arms, and get the old bushings out (and replace with new OEM)
- Front Sway-bar Drop Kit
- Rear Sway-bar Drop Kit
- Front 2" Bump Stop Drop Blocks
- Rear 2" Bump Stop Drop Blocks
- Extended Brake Lines (not Slee, OEM from various trucks)
- Front Panhard Rod Adjuster, which needs to be welded on
- Rear Panhard Rod Adjuster, which needs to be welded on
- Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arms, which needs to be welded on
- Breather Extensions
- Emergency Brake Cable drop bracket

I also have a large box of stuff from Toyota with various parts in it...

And oh yeah, those 5.29's to put in, and the Marlin low range transfer case gear!

Wow. That's a lot of crap.

I think you're going to need more BEER .

Yea it's hard to beat Discount Tire's service . I have bought many sets of tires from them and have never had a problem . Plus the no questions asked warranty is great .

Good Luck on your truck hope all goes well .

And don't forget to throw in a pre GSMTR wheeling trip to test everything out.

You are an ambitious young lad. I have no doubt it will get done.

Speaking of GSMTR, are you driving there or trailering?
