I'll save you some $$$ on the alcohol as well:D Water is fine!

Okay, looks like we have a day.

Saturday, [strike]January[/strike]February 15th.

Luis kept his normal shift days, so he's good with Saturday.

Plan accordingly! (Time for me to buy more parts! Ack!)

Dust off you flux capacitors and make sure your cruisers can go 88 mph.

I'll join the fun...

Bret, will you be bringing you tube bender???

Jerry

Alright! This is going to be a downright party!

Good thing I've got plenty of work for you [strike]suckers[/strike]volunteers.

@ Jerry, I should be able to. There is enough time I should be able to get the pedestal too. IIRC it is approx 6" radius with 1.75" tube. Did you want to bend at Luis's or take it home for more fab stuff? If at Luis's may need to mount the pedestal to hold it still.

Do you guys want me to bring some redheads? (Not girls, bolts!) I've got a few extras in my garage.

Bret, if I can bring it home for a while that would be best, thanks.

Also does anyone need a good used 2F head??

Jerry

Holy crap I didn't expect to have this hard of a time getting tires!

After a lot of back-and-forth, I made up my mind: it's either going to be BFG KM2's, or Nitto Trail Grapper MT's.

Problem is, they both come with a catch. KM2's have a great option for my stock rim - 345/75R16. Problem is, they're all gone. Everywhere. And no sign of when production is going to start up again. Ugh.

The Nitto's are easy enough to come by, but that means I've got to change rims - they're a little bigger as a 37/12.50R17. There's another $500, plus more for the actual tire. KM2 in a 17"? Forget it, can't find those either. Next production run is next week, but 8-10 weeks out from being supplied.

In the end, it ends up being something like another $1k just to go from a 36.4" tire to a 37" tire.

I can get the 315 KM2's all day long... but why spend money on 34's when I really want the 37's?

Anyway, this is more of a rant & ramble than anything else. I think I'm going to hold out for the 345's - they seem to be calling my name - I just hope they'll be available before GSMTR.

What about duratracs?

You should keep an eye on craigslist- good deals there.

How wide are the stock rims?

Are the 345/75R16's a common size sold by various manufacturers?

A lesson I learned:
The Battle Wagon has 37 X12.50X15's on it. The last time I bought tires, 37 X 15's were starting to get a little scarce. Now the tire size is almost extinct. Choices went from twelve types of tires two years ago down to two now.
Next time I'll have to buy 37X12.50x17's.

Lesson I learned is to go with a more common size tire.
The slightest hint of demand getting low, the tire manufacturers stop producing in heartbeat.

All the yayhoos with in their 4x4 F350's are buying 20" wheels are making it difficult for us that want some sidewall or have smaller wheels.

I'm not really a fan of the Duratracs. Nothing specific, I just haven't heard folks say good things about them - but man alive, ask 'bout the KM2's! Whoo wee!

As for sizes, here's a basic rundown of what's available to me in a 16" rim, and the number of tires for that size:

315/75R16 = 34.6x12.4R16 (27)
325/80R16 = 36.5x12.8R16 (1)
345/75R16 = 36.4x13.6R16 (1)
35X10.5R16 (2)
35X12.5R16 (6)
35X14.5R16 (2)
35X16R16 (1)
36X12.5R16 (2)
36X13.5R16 (1)
36X13R16 (1)
36X14.5R16 (2)
375/65R16 = 35.2x14.8R16 (1)
37X12.5R16 (4)
37X13.5R16 (1)
37X13R16 (1)
37X14R16 (1)

Note *most* of all of those outside of the 315 are Interco (Super Swamper). And from what I was told today, they went bankrupt and got bought out - almost didn't make it, and suppliers are scarce for them right now.

Steve, I 100% agree with you on the size issue. Check out the 17's selection compared to 16's:

355/70R17 (36.6x14R17) (1)
36X12.5R17 (1)
36X13.5R17 (1)
37X12.5R17 (13)
37X13.5R17 (3)
37X13R17 (1)
37X14R17 (1)
38X13.5R17 (2)
38X14.5R17 (2)
38X15.5R17 (3)

And just for giggles, here's your 15's:

36X12.5R15 (3)
36X13.5R15 (1)
36X14.5R15 (2)
37X12.5R15 (3)
37X13.5R15 (1)
37X13R15 (1)
37X14.5R15 (1)
37X14R15 (1)
38X12.5R15 (2)
38X15.5R15 (3)

And to your other point Steve, the only tires I see in your 37x12.50x15 are Super Swamper brands too.

The other thing that worries me is not only extinction, but just plain availability... if I shred a tire, I've got a spare. But how long it going to take to get that tire replaced? 6 months?

I hope there are are still 33 KM2s in 6 months when I need them.

Oh, I just noticed that the tires I have now are labeled as Goodyear's! Funny when I bought them they had the same name (Fierce Attitude) but were "made" by Dunlop.

Goodluck Carter ..........I just changed to a 31 A/T 16 to a 33 M/T 16 . Not much out there anymore . I went to Discount Tire and got some Kumo M/T .

They have a great road hazard warranty .
