Went to eat at Soul Fish (Cooper & Young area) for Father's Day. Man, after much debate, I've officially decided that when I take over the world next week, they're the top fish joint in the kingdom. Jalepeno tartar sauce, killer mac and cheese, spiced cabbage that is stellar (with sausage, no less), and good service. Of course, great fish! If you haven't been, worth a trip up!

Las Delicious.

Meh.

Not even in the same league as Las Tortugas.

Carne, Pastor and Chorizo tacos with cheese.

Steak and pork were low quality and dry.

Chorizo was good.

Bowling Alley, Bishop, California. Damn fine burger. I went for the blue cheese & bacon with a cold Sierra Nevada from the tap.

Holy $&@# this is tasty!

Sweet potato fries? That's new. That is about 3/4 mile from my old house. Try the pimento cheese sandwich next door to Huey's.

Memphis is a GREAT eating town.

Concur.

It's hard to go twice anywhere.

I had a weak safari this trip. Huey's was great. I tried Central Bagel on Poplar and it was meh.

Central BBQ on Central for lunch. My pork was dry, dry. So disappointing.

I keep saying that Memphis BBQ down in Horn Lake is good, people. I didn't get to looking the way I look by eating tofu and watercress....

Memphis BBQ Co is my favorite. I have a coworker that does BBQ as a side job (like Slabsides does?) and he also recommends them as his choice.

Met somebody today who said his favorite in Memphis was Payne's BBQ on Lamar somewhere. Anybody ever heard of that or been there?

Never heard of it, but you never know!

The "Slabsides" comment is a gun reference; you wouldn't want me ruining your ribs....

Okay, must be getting you mixed up with someone. I think I recall meeting a member once a few years back that did BBQ as a side business - thought it was you for some reason (maybe the name).

Payne's is my favorite for BBQ sammiches. It is in a white painted cinder block building on Lamarra close to McLean.
Great bologna sammich too.

It is really in the hood. Its good though.

None of the Memphis BBQ has blown me away but ill keep at it

My wife and I have been going to One and Only BBQ on Kirby and Poplar a lot lately. Very good pulled pork sandwiches. Try the brisket too, its delicious. Havent tried ribs

and I have been on a competitive BBQ team for 25+ years so I hope I know what I'm talking about :)

Love their brisket sandwich. I have no idea what brisket is "supposed" to taste like, but I like theirs! I may have to try the pork, if I can keep myself from the brisket.

IMO, the best pork BBQ comes from people who aren't in the business of selling it. Most of the BBQ shops' Q is too bland for my taste. I quit ordering it a while back. Nowadays I judge BBQ joints based on the quality of the sides.

By my judging criteria, G'town Commissary wins hands down. THE best potato "crack" salad, deviled eggs, beans and desserts.

One & Only is good, but I haven't fully explored the menu yet.

The best Q sandwich I have had in town is at the corner of Piscah and Macon Rd in Eads...Morris Grocery. On top of the hill. Huge nasty big ole sandwich of goodness and you buy your beers in 32oz or 40oz no lil sippers here.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/morris-grocery-eads

Go sit on your tailgate and eat your sandwich...drink your beer...and crack open that full bag of Vitner's Louisana Hot Sauce chips you bought.

I would suggest bringing a towel with you b/c your will either need it to clean your hands or your forehead for knocking that big ass meal OUT!!!

What part of the pig does brisket come from?
