Since this thread popped back up I'll give a quick update- pretty sure this was due to really high sidewinds, twisty roads, and a Thule cargo box being on top of the car. On a daily basis in normal weather and no topper she drives just fine at all speeds.

Works great - no issues. I have a few pics in the LX picture thread but here's one from today:

I didn't wheel the LX all that much to be honest. It was purchased to keep the miles off the Land Cruiser because I was commuting 60+ miles a day back then ~6 years ago. But the last couple of years I worked extensively on the development of another vehicle that used that exact same size with good results. Pics from June 2021 with prototype vehicles, but the tire size stayed the same into production on 20" wheels.

This is a 285/75/17 next to 275/65/20

Actually strongly leaning towards those pirellis! I know you’ve got some good engineers over there so I trust your fitment choice… Nigel was my boss over in the UK back in the day. 😛

Do also share your opinions on that fitment, and I’m also curious if thats an OE specific tire for yall, wether its reinforced for the weight etc.

Thanks!

The Rivian is a bit heavier than the 200, so I have no concerns about the weight rating. That said, I would not recommend the Pirelli for what I use my 200 for personally. There are lots of good tires in that size, so I'd pick your fav flavor - mine being the Nitto Ridge Grappler.

Great looking tire the RG. And it seems you prefer E load?
Im trying to achieve best wet traction and comfort and a bot scared E will be harsh and heavy. There is also the recon grappler in an SL. The RG in XL however is only 33” unfortunately or that trigger would have been pulled immediately.
Really going after an OE like fitment this time around, and ill keep my 17s should that bug ever bite again. Pirellis seem to be heavily siped, and more road friendly.

We have a bone stock 08 Cruiser on E rated 285/65/18 KO2s, and I love it and think it's perfect. I'm not the right person to ask if E rated is right for others 🤣
