The antenna should retract entirely when you switch to a radio input other than AM or FM radio. Or at least mine does.

You have a new fancy 100. Aftermarket head units keep antenna up (even if lowered manually) when head unit is on.

Do you have a link to said OEM antennas? Like I said above, I was able to find an OEM antenna for about $45, there were cheaper ones available but they were certainly not OEM.
