Merry Christmas all! I’m pretty sure Santa will not have rembered that I need the tail light brackets for my 40. The PO had replaced with the newer brackets. I think they changed in 1968. Anyway, if the tail lights are in good shape all the better, but what I want is the bracket. Thanks for your consideration!

Bill

Hey Mark - I need these and the cone head shaped covers. How much extra added to my current order and I can send you funds.

Just the $36 for the brackets Jon; I don't have any cone covers. Hens teeth.

Hey mark...thanks for responding!

So on the brackets, I know they r after market. But do they replicate oem? Just to b cleaner, I have oem tail lights that need to fit into the bracket. I’m doing a “frame off” on my 1966 and am trying to keep it stock looking. Thanks!

Yes, they fit the factory taillights; that was (and is) the point.

Thanks, I assumed that was the point but I’ve assumed things in the past and have been wrong.

So I’d like to order a set. Is there a way to do that on your web site?

Thanks,

Bill

Just my 2 cents... one of the reasons an original set is so hard to find is because they were really flimsy. They would fail early on and a lot of guys opted to take them off and chuck em , and in some cases opt for a newer bracket. I have an original set on my 67 frame, and I easily bent one as i walked by. My remedy for this was to buy a repop set and trim them down to fit inside of the OEM brackets. The only difference cosmetically between the two is the original are stamped and the repops are cut out of thicker steel. As far as the egg shaped cover, I wonder if you could use/ modify later model shields (same basic shape) for a OEM look.

Later molded covers are too large. Still have the original tail lights on my 68. For insurance I pulled a few more years ago from wrecking yard. Same with the earlier version for smaller lights. Those did not have the molded housing on the back. Believe the the mounting brackets fail for rust reason as much as anything. Original we're not to hard to straighten out. Not sure if it was Man-A-Fre or Downey that sold thick plate brackets. Catch the edge of those and the end of the frame member would bend before the bracket did.

No website shopping cart. Per my signature line, I do my business by telephone. Please keep my order minimum in mind too.

Thanks for the info on your minimum. Unfortunately, as the title suggests all I’m looking for at this point are the brackets witch will not meet your threshold

There is a set on eBay, it includes the egg shaped cone covers.

Good to hear SG4. I haven't seen them with covers that often, so I picked them up. The brackets don't look very good but the covers are what I think are nice. Billsboat has first dibs (for what I paid).

Well, s***. I bought the wrong ones lol. Was on my phone and in a hurry.

Let me know if you want to sell the ones you bought.

I want to hear from billsboat first. I had him in mind, and I have already contacted him. If he declines you r 1st on the list.

The only ones I’m seeing are the new aftermarket bracket only ,...is that what you were talking about?
