I remember reading that tail lights for a 97 fzj80 are no longer available. Specifically I am looking for a drivers side light. I checked partsouq and they show unavailable. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything.

Sounds like they are still available. I am so tired of buying "in stock" parts to later get an email saying they are not available. Short of partsouq I don't trust any other websites anymore.

Are you just looking for the outer housing?

You would have to do your research to confirm that HDJ80 taillights are the same as FZJ80 - I assume they are - but I just bought a set from Partsouq a few months ago. They're showing a bunch in stock

I use the lights from amazon. I don't purposely break them, but they tend to break when i'm wheeling sometimes. They fit like they are supposed to.
Not being OEM isn’t the end of the world in my opinion

Try your local Toyota dealer, usually a quick call to the parts dept can answer these questions.
