How high is your "72? And how will you get your Taco on top of your "40???

I would buy a battery......

Done it with my '07 Tacoma, jumping my 40 and my 80 at various different times. Didn't hurt nuthin:meh:

Brand new battery. I thinks I need a new ignition switch. Been real careful to get it in the right spot(OFF) but 'tis the 2nd time(thus the brand new battery) that I've run it down like this.
:bang:

Yes, you can jump it, but I would read your Tacoma manual to see what the procedure is. A lot of the newer vehicles have specific ways of doing it.

Since the alternator is NOT designed to charge batteries that are flat, you need to charge the battery with a good charger.

Thanks guys.

I didn't have a charger at my disposal. I did get it jumped without incident. Except for dog**** on each one my taco tires.
It took a while to bump over(been raining here alot and cold today) but it finally did.

I left the cables hooked up for around 5 min. but I'm letting the 40 sit and run for a while.
I would ride it around but I don't have the top on and its nipply, well Ga nipply.

:cheers::beer:

You need to get a charger otherwise your battery will never be at full capacity. Alternators are used to maintain the charge, not complete charging.

take it to an auto parts store and have them charge it. most of them do it for FREE or they can tell you if you have a bad battery. dont do that to the taco might have some negative effects like shorten the life of the alt. or short out the electrical system.

Just go to your local auto parts store and pick up a inexpensive trickle charger. I think I saw one at Kragen for $29.00. Especially if it sits alot you will save the cost of a new battery by keeping it charged.

Going by memory here. When I went to charge my dead original battery on my '04 Taco, the manual said to unhook the cables. I eventually removed battery and set up charging. Thought the better of it and bought new Sears Platinum. I don't think a jump will hurt, but definately double check manual for full charging.

Oh, and I also read that as actually jumping your Taco over a '40 or vice versa... :o
